View Full Version : Listen up! Time to nominate some moderators here!!
RiseStar

Ok,
There are some problems here and the only fair thing I can come up with is to have you all nominate several moderators here. These should be ppl that come here often and are fair and impartial and level headed.
I will choose 4 or 5 people out of those nominated and if they agree to it they will be appointed moderators so you can police yourselves which is probably the best way of doing it.
Nominate away!

Its rough, and not a simple task...

If you are looking for individuals with a good over-all understanding of our hobby, providing information that is both un-biased and correct, then TDonn and Cellular/Billy Pilgrim would be two excellent, unrivaled choices.
Good Luck!!

Thanks Coop, but I wouldn’t touch it with a ten-foot pole. I deal with the public in the real world so I don’t need this unrewarding job. Plus I always found it hard to be drinking buddies with people you may one day have to terminate (ban). All I ask of the person who accepts the job is be FAIR & FIRM.

I'm not sure if voting for the next mod in the BS forum is such a good idea, I think Rise should have asked all his current mods who they thought would be good. But it's his ship and he can run it as he pleases.
Here's a couple that I think would make great mods; ^Falcon_65^, Quaddawg, Crownvic, and Mrs C., to add a females touch. I really thought Cellular (Billy Pilgrim) would have made a good mod, but in a post he said he was out of here.

Thanks all for your support. Yesterday I threw myself, BillyPilgrim, on my sword. Hopefully good comes of it. But by doing so I have taking myself out of serious consideration to be a Moderator. I would have gladly taken the job and would have been a fair, reasonable, and accessble Moderator. I have been here over 2 years and know the rules as well as anyone. I broke a big one yesterday. I was provoked and my intentions were pure, but I broke the rules and accept my fate.
I think any mod appointed to look over this forum should be a regular that understands the personalities and the dynamics of the TP. Some of the nominations, though very fine PD members, have spent little or no time here and would be at a great disadvantage. Many of the regulars here are also very active in other forums here at the PD and are known for the help they give to others.
Though there have been many great suggestions and nominees, my choice, as if it matters :Z, would have to be TDONN. He has seen all the BS forum has to offer from the beginning and has the experience to fairly deal with members who cross the line.
I killed Billy. So It Goes.
Now that is B.S. ... I think you showed very good and deserving qualities for being made a moderator..You were willing to sacrifice to make change here I believe that is a big part of why Rise started this thread....you still got my vote;)

I THINK THE PURPOSE HERE WAS TO NOMINATE SOMEONE AS A MOD THAT THE MEMBERS RESPECT AND BY THERE SELECTION, CONSIDERS THEM TO HAVE DEMONSTRATED THE QUALITIES NECESSARY TO BE A GOOD MOD BASED ON THERE COMMUNICATION WITH THEM OR READING THERE POST.
i'd say all those that have been mentioned here are good people. but selecting someone in this manner is not neccessarily going to produce the individual that has the most qualities necessary to do the job.
the catalyst to this thread and topic comes from the problems incurred in another thread where members weren't happy with the actions taken by a mod.
i've had several disputes that are almost identical.
there's NO GOOD REASON TO DELETE AN ENTIRE THREAD...
removing everyone else's comments and the time and effort to post them, when any offending posts can be deleted and the thread closed GOES against the SITES MANTRA AND DESCRIPTION ON THE OPENING PAGE.
common sense says deleting a thread or using other administrative tools to prevent posting in an open thread ,revoke posting priveleges without any warning/communication for personal reasons, etc., will be rebutted by the person/s involved and any deceipt exposed in a follow up thread or post.
that leads to further inappropriate actions and the cycle continues.
so why would anyone delete a thread or use other administrative sanctions deceiptfully ?
ARROGANCE IS A GOOD WORD TO DESCIBE THE ABUSE OF AUTHORITY /TRUST AND POWER .
where does that come from ?
sticking togeter, blue wall of silence, rank has it's privelege, you cover for me i'll cover for you type of mentality and culture.
if you break the unspoken rule/code and post something that contradicts,or appears to validate someone else's criicism comments evidence of a fellow mod,you will be an outcast, untrusted and unsupported in the future.
anyone going along with that type of thinking/mentality has no confidence in there ability to support and defend themselce with fact's reason and logic.
the job is not so difficult if your honest truthfull and able to accept criticism that's supported by facts on the comments opinions and actions you take/make.
it becomes difficult when you can't give a reasonable logical explanation ,so you use your position/authority/power to prevent anything that would embarass or sully your credibility/reputation/character .
"OH WHAT A TANGLED WEB WE WEAVE WHEN WE PRACTICE TO DECEIVE"
PICKING 4 WOULD BE A PROBLEM FOR ME BECAUSE I SEE MANY MENTIONED THAT I KNOW WOULD QUALIFY AND BE GOOD MODS.
BUT I'D HAVE TO LEAVE SOMEONE OFF NOT BECAUSE 1 IS BETTER THAN THE OTHER BUT BECAUSE OF THE LIMIT.
SO I'LL BOIL IT DOWN TO 1,ALL THE OTHERS ARE 2ND.
TRAVIS CORNELL WOULD BE MY CHOICE

EAO, for once I agree with every word you said, the few caps you used didn't kill me & just a little color that didn't blind me & give me a headache. LOL! Just kidding about all of that. Seriously, with that post, you solidified my posistion that you should also be an Admin, but not just of the BS forum, but of the whole site. I hope Risestar ask you & you accept the posistion.
As for Travis_Cornell, you are right on the money there also. Throw Cellular, blcjet, krazie, fordruid, & Falcon65 into the mix & I believe the site would clean up nicely.
Thanks Risestar for hearing our concerns & acting on them.

Wow, thanks EAO and other's that have nominated me. I appreciate ya'll thinking that I would be good for the job. I have already told RiseStar that I won't accept becoming a moderator of this forum or any other forums of the Den(not that he has offered). I have angered alot of people in my attempts to correct what I felt were serious problems here. It would cause too much hate and discontent here if I became a Mod. What I want is for this place to be what it used to be. A place where everyone felt comfortable shooting the breeze and having a good time with their friends. I think alot of people would be uncomfortable and angry even if I became a mod. Best that people be chosen whose status as mods won't be controversial.

RISE,
THE REASON'S TRAVIS gives for declining are the reason's why he would be an excellent mod. he will add balance to the group.
assuming that you would have selected him except for his decline, you would truly demonstrate by offering the position anyway that the people you choose are not just those that won't shake the boat.
TRAVIS
anyone that get's angry or can't take the heat needs to take a long walk off a short plank.
if someone can't handle the truth they don't need to be a mod.
why worry about people like that ?
if they can't handle RISE'S selection because there mad and they and won't feel comfortable without there support group,WHO NEEDS THEM ?
there's a problem here of a select few that will continue abusing there position/power and authority because others are and have been silent and complacent. when an action that can't be supported with truth/facts/evidence rationally, is not questioned/addressed by the other mods, the silence and complacency condone's and establish's the acceptibility of the wrongfull action for all and there continuation in the future.
i'm not advocating that mods should publicly dispute each other for there actions, but they should do it in the backgound and if a reversal of an action is warranted and they refuse to make the correction, they shoul get no support from anyone and RISE should take the necessary action to discipline and reverse the action.
i know there's a lot of friendship amogst the mods.
WHAT KIND OF A FRIEND PUTS YOU IN A POSITION TO DEFEND SOMETHING THEY DID THAT'S INDEFENSIBLE ?
NEW MODS THAT CONTINUE THE SAME PATTERN AND EXCEPT THE STAUS QUO AREN'T THE ANSWER.
JUST SOME SIMPLE RULES AND GUIDELINES EXPECTED TO BE FOLLOWED BY ALL AND CARRIED OUT REGARDLESS OF FRIENDSHIP WOULD DO.
THERE AREN'T ANY GOOD REASONS TO REMOVE AN ENTIRE THREAD.
BUT IF THERE'S GOOD REASON ONLY RISE OR 1-2 APPOINTED MODS IN HIS ABSENCE SHOULD HAVE THE AUTHORITY TO DO IT.
anyone wanting to delete a thread must submit it to them.
close it and delete the posts that are the reason for the deletion until a decision is made.

i'VE never seen you post something that wasn't right. and i'm confidant if someone gave you evidence and supported it appropriately that you thougt was valid and credible contaradicting and advice or conclusion, you would reply with an appropriate statement.
my comments were intended to spark self analysis vs being criticized/disciplined/admonished ,pvtly or publicly to account for an inappropriate action ,thru personal evaluation .

I made 2 post before this one,i can't find where i said/inferred/implied that mods don't ? each other.

that was only meant as a suggestion, the important part was what occurs as a result of the communications ,which i suggested in the balance of the statement - "they refuse to make the correction, they should get no support from anyone and RISE should take the necessary action to discipline and reverse the action."
actualy i'm sure it's done. and i'm sure you could relate specifically where an action was reversed by doing so

MY INTENTIONS ARE AND HAVE ALWAYS BEEN TO HELP IMPROVE THIS ALREADY TOP SITE.
ANYONE THINKING THIS WAS AN ATTACK ON THE MODS HERE, IGNORED THIS STAtEMENT AS TO WHO MY COMMENTS WERE DIRECTED AT "there's a problem here of a select few OR ARE OFFENDED BECAUSE OF THIS COMMENT "sticking togeter, blue wall of silence, rank has it's privelege, you cover for me i'll cover for you type of mentality and culture."
and here's my feelings on people that subscribe to that type of thinking/mentality .- anyone that get's angry or can't take the heat needs to take a long walk off a short plank.
if someone can't handle the truth they don't need to be a mod.
why worry about people like that ?
if they can't handle RISE'S selection because there mad and they and won't feel comfortable without there support group,WHO NEEDS THEM ?
MY COMMENTS MAY HAVE BEEN IN THE WRONG PLACE DUE TO MY MISSING A SINGLE KEYWORD. BUT THAT DOESN'T MAKE THEM ANY LESS TRUE.THIS QUOTE REPLY IS IN DIRECT RESPONSE TO COMMENTS DIRECTLY MADE TO ME HERE. I SINCERELY APOLOGIZE FOR TAKING UP THE SPACE BUT PEOPLE HAVE THE OPTION TO SKIP THEM.
CELLULARS POST WAS RIGHT ON HE MONEY AND I'D SAY IS PROOF THAT MANY OTHERS ARE UNDER THE SAME MISTAKEN IMPRESSION I WAS UNDER THAT THE NOMINATION FOR A MOD WAS NOT ONLY FOR THIS FORUM.
I POST HERE VERY RARELY,AND HE POINTS OUT THAT SOME OF THE PEOPLE BEING MENTIONED ARE RARELY HERE IF AT ALL

OK, its tough but.....
Tdonn, Fordruid, Blcjet,Coop, Cellular
In no particular order
I saw my name mentioned, and I must say thanks but no thanks, I am not levelheaded enough at all. So I would decline anyway. I would enjoy it, but I don't think I could keep my opinions to myself.

Sounds like overkill, but not my call. All I was saying is that RiseStar asked for nominees that are familiar with the BS forum and visit here often. Many of the nominees, (not ours) don't ever come to this forum, and some of those making the nominations don't either, until now.
YOU MAKE A VERY GOOD POINT

The names were all good, however, if you fill a mod position by promoting one of the regular posters in the BS forum, you end up killing the BS forum. This almost happened once, you would think that there is a lesson to be learned.
In addition:
Anyone of the regular posters, in the BS forum, that accepts a mod positon will then be hampered in what they, themselves, post.
Think about the psychology of it? Think about the fairness? It was mentioned before, wasn't it? The one sure way of stopping a good BS forum participant, is, to make that person a moderator.
Does Muggles participate in BS banter? Hardly any.
Does Modaddy participate in BS banter? Hardly any.
Does RiseStar participate in BS banter? Almost never.
Does Easyrider participate in BS Banter? Almost never.
Does Fiddlefingers participate in BS Banter? Now, almost never, except, to muzzle Alaccountant.
Does Renegade participate in BS Banter? Almost never, and he's the best mod around.
I missed a few, and for that, I am very sorry.
To summarize: The position is not glamorus, only slightly rewarding. It is not a real substitute for power acheived while being employed. You will only be really respected if you write script or help in pursueing the original purpose of the site. Contrary to what the applicants think, acting like a security guard does not gain you respect and you can't put it on your resume.

Hmmmmmm.........That is why, a moderator was put here, to keep the other mods free to do other things.
No one gets paid for this, so we do have real lives, and jobs.....
You got NOTHING better do to 24/7? Maybe you ought to throw YOUR name in the hat.
As for what you believe who is the best moderator, each has their speciality, so to say. Some mods do more than just play on this side if this site, and some do things, on other sites also.

Well,
To be truthful I think That Muggles has contributed just has much,if not more than any ONE Mod on this site.
If you are Speaking of someone that has impressed me with their knowledge and Bs'ing who is not yet a Mod...Then there would be No If ands and buts.. TDONN..
I personally cannot be a 24/7 person,I would be more than happy to contribute, but future plans in my upcoming life will limit the amount I would like to do..
There are, many, many worthy of this position and just as long as we think positive, then there will be no problems.
It is so easy to find Negatives in a Person,So whom ever is here will get My support (NO MATTER WHAT).
After all we are all Human.....
Take care and Happy Holidays to everyone.

1. You are level headed
2. You are knowledgeable
3. You never left the BS forum, you are loyal. (not like some)
4. You are qualified.
BUT,
The position is beneath you. In addition, you might have the same problem as the other superior and unnamed candidate, (the former Mayor). Because, you are opinionated, because, you are emotional, because, you quickly make decisions, because, you are not policallly correct, again, you and the former mayor have much in common. Both are far more superior and over qualified for any job as a politically correct moderator. You are to be honored!
Speaking for the former mayor, I'm sure the both of you are relieved that the position was not bestowed upon either of you. You, on the other hand, refused, but, should at least be proud that you name was considered.

In reference:
It was determined that the many personalities of certain individuals can be best exploited by the multiple registration process. Reference Jungle Mike = lyrland et all, Cerberus = Trailer park manager, Mrs. C. et all, RiseStar = probably 50 alternates, Quaddawg and Crownvic = themselves, not tempted by skitzo tendencies to take on multiple personalities. (hats off to ya)
Crownvic, congrats on your engagement. No wonder you have been acting unusual as of late, this is just the start, my man.

I am not a regular poster in the BS forum, but I do enjoy reading it (sometimes).
I think quaddawg would make a great MOD in the BS AKA Trailer Park forum.
In my short time here he seems real level headed in that Forum. I also think there are lots of other great potentional MODS, but I never have seen a post in the BS forum from Bidlady, bolynn, or fxrider (please excuse any mispellings of names). Those three are very helpful.
Maybe getting a non-trailer park resident to moderate the place would be best, kinda like a slum-lord.
I just enjoyed reading the thread and wanted to contribute.
