Just curious about what has happened to some of the people that received the harrassment letter from DAVE's lawyers, if they replied, ignored, has anybody been prosecuted? Been a few months now for some.....?

I haven't heard, but DirecTV has at least a year (probably more since allegations of a federal felony are involved) to file criminal charges or a civil suit from the time the lawyer letters were sent. It's obvious DirecTV is messing with people's heads. It's less obvious to what degree, if any, they'll actually follow up with legal action. At this point time is on their side.

Yes I posted a update on this about a week ago at:

Under the header of "Here is the COURT DOCKET information from end AUGUST The latest available as of Dec 2001" you will see that DirecTV® is losing MOST of these cases and Judge Real is often ruling for defendants "without prejudice" which means that DirecTV® cannot start up in other courts.

Its pretty obvious that no invoice is PROOF of anything and it appears that the judge realizes this.

In some cases they have alleged RICO and the court has thrown that idioticy by DirecTV® out in every single case before the court. And almost all the defendants who asked that the charges be dropped for lack of jurisdiction have also has that granted.

The legal -rights site posts most of the information on these matters so just go there and READ. Hope that's not too difficult and if you just BOOKMARK the location there will be much more information posted as it becomes available from the courts.

So far NOBODY has been convicted except those who cooperated with DirecTV® and made a plea bargain to plead guilty and pay them money as will as agree to a GIANT amount in Damages should they pirate the DirecTV® signal in the FUTURE. Usually this "agreement" is for over $ 100,000.00 for people who ARE guilty and who ADMIT to breaking the law.
