Converting movies problem

Ok i have tried to convert these movies and still can't convert correctly i have tried tmpgenc and others. The problem is when it's done converting and i try it in the dvd player the screen is very dark then what's on the media player. I have tried all the settings pal ntsc vcd and svcd and still the same results any clues? Does the quality of conversion depend on your processor?
