Hi Folks,
Well now it looks like DirecTV® have got Pegasus involved in investigating cases in the USA. It seems to be getting quite dangerous to buy in the USA since DirecTV® went home from Canada with their tail between their legs and are now going after Americans. Here they went after people who were NOT GUILTY and lost a TON of cases but I don't know what type of equipment was seized here. Was it lawful equipment that is just alleged to be illegal (they do that a LOT) or was it really illegal equipment. We will have to wait to see how this plays out since their press releases are often not credible. Here is the article

Pegasus Helps Nab Pirate
Pegasus Satellite Television, which provides DirecTV
in rural areas, said it helped in the arrest and
indictment of a Scottsboro, Ala., man, who was charged
with possession of equipment used in the theft of
satellite TV signals.
During a raid at the man's house, the FBI confiscated
two truckloads of materials with a street value of
more than $1 million, Pegasus said. The confiscated
items included access cards, about 200 programming
devices, electronics to build up to 1,000 additional
programming devices, three computers and hacking
software.
The unidentified man was charged with three counts
of a law that prohibits the possession of equipment
used in satellite television piracy. If found guilty,
the man could face a total of 15 years' imprisonment
and up to $1.5 million in fines.
Pegasus said it has hired a team of private investigators
to track leads, build cases and aid local law enforcement
and the FBI in the ongoing battle against piracy of
satellite TV services. The company also conducts
advertising campaigns educating consumers about the
legal ramifications of purchasing and/or using illegally
modified access cards.
Ay a later date we will find out what exactly happened here but this will obviously cause aggravation to the defendants which is what they did here in Canada when defendants were in fact NOT GUILTY as some 17 judges found.
