Besides, look at the cases that the state was wrong in convictions. PUNISHMENT is fine for people who understand what they are doing, but putting people who are mentally ill to death is wrong.

The woman was clearly mentally ill, and based on what I have seen reported, she was a good mother prior to killing all her kids. ?!?!!

If ANYONE is criminally insane, it would have to be her. I'm sure the trial "experts" will cancel out each other.. The woman was/is nuts, and I sure as heck dont want her out in society again.

Surely living with herself has to be worse than dying. Glad Im not on the jury, cuz this one is tough. I think I would lean towards the death penalty at this point.

Well she had a long case of mental illness before she did it. I even read that her doc took her off some medication that was to help her cope.

With that said though, there is no excuse for killing 5 kids. She must be put down. She has already been shown to be a danger to herself as well as other people.

"Breathe deep, hang tight, fire her up, give her an I.V. for the "pain", or have her take a seat and take a "load" off!" In either event, the result's the same and we're ALL happy, right?. Think about it: Whatever "voice" told her to do what she did could easily be "summoned" by the state-appointed psychiatrist to compel her to comply once again and chose option 1-5.
The alternative is that we could "send her to Harvard cheaper than incarcerate her" thus, giving her the means by which to "rehabilitate" herself in order to become a productive member of society (by keeping her in prison for life with no chance of parole). I don't have much; however, I needn't what she has (or will have) the ability to produce at any time hence forth. If my license plate takes an extra couple of days to get here, a prisoner misses out on the opportunity to file another frivolous law suit, or a child grows up without hearing, "don't do what I did"....I think my life will still be complete while perhaps unfulfilled. Whether she dies or not (it's my feeling she should) is of no consequence. Because of our B.S. system of endless appeals, prisoner rights, and our trod upon 14th amendment (right to due process), the LAST victims of thie heinous crime will be the American people. Only AFTER the rights of the children gruesomely killed by this cu#$, the American people, and the system which is supposedly in place to protect the masses from the few, have been completely obliterated, will "justice" finally be served. It's a fact we all live with (willingly or otherwise) and we must remain spectators during this event, as we are during elections (voice your opinion but it matters not). The powers that be will "deal" with this matter in "due course" (ten years from now) and we must forget about it by next week (all in the name of progress and healing). I saw on CNN that is costs $58.00 a day to keep an inmate on death row.. The drugs for the lethal injection are around $80.00. You do the math... maybe we can bring that national deficit down a little...Just my .02....;)

the anti death penalty folks argue that's its cheaper to maintain in prison for life than to execute due to litigation costs. they also argue that its not a deterent...texas streamlined the system under Bush (first term)-cap pun convicts receive automatic appeal and I think 2 after that, then goodnight.

The woman was insane. How can anyone even think differently. If ever the insanity defense applies, it is with her. If her husband, and her mother-in-law, and all of her psychiatrists will stand behind her, then I truly believe she was insane and not aware of the wrongness of what she was doing.

Even the prison psych testified that this woman was the worst she had ever seen. Andrea is NOT FAKING IT. What in gods name would be her motive for doing this, and then emotionlessly calling the police and telling them?? She never tried to hide from what she did.. she was a psychotic zombie. You cannot ignore this illness by killing her and pretending it will never happen to another person again.

Exactly right. No remorse & freely admitting she did it. Calling the cops says she knew it was wrong. Insane or not she's proven beyond all doubt that she has no worth as a functioning human being anymore. Why even have the "not guilty by reason of insanity" if it cant ever be used? If EVER it could be used, I would think it would have to be in this case. Otherwise, just throw the insanity defense out the window for everyone, and put to death anybody else who has ever successfully used the defense, and close down the institutions for the criminally insane.

How "out of touch" could her husband have possibly been? And her Dr. who apparantly took her off her medication 2 weeks prior to the drownings.

Now that San Diego man who kidnapped and probably murdered (not to mention the other horrors she mustve gone through) his neighbors little girl.. THAT man, I would have NO problem pulling the plug on.
