Figure This Out

There was 3 guys who went to a motel and decided to share a room, since it was cheaper. The room cost 30 dollars so they each gave the attendant 10 dollars and went to their room. A few minutes later the clerk realized that the room was on special for 25 dollars, so he headed back to the room to give them their money. Since the attendant couldn't figure out a fair way to split the 5 dollars, he decided to give each a dollar back and kept 2 dollars for himself.

So, each man paid 9 dollars for the room and the attendant kept 2 dollars....BUT that's only 29 dollars, where's the other dollar????

the room was $25, he kept $2, that is $27 ($25 + $2 = $27), then he gave each man $1, that is $30 ($27 + $3 = $30).

It is all in the way it is worded. Jersey Bear is right. The way this is worded, it sounds logical.. but, it is like doing this... I have no pictures you are are going to have to follow...

Do the following... Put both hands up with your fingers spread.. now start counting down your fingers from ten, on one of your hands... ready.. TEN, NINE, EIGHT, SEVEN, SIX... now you are at SIX... you have five fingers on your other hand... 6+5=11. Who here has 11 fingers?

See, it is all in the way you count...

However 9*3=27 -2=25 which is what they paid for the room
