Does anyone know if this device works? It is supposed to jam police radar and laser so they can't determine your speed.

My girlfriend's uncle is a sheriff, and he says that by the time the "radar detector" goes off you have already passed him. He says they are worthless.
I've got a yellow 2002 Mustang GT (lol...people see me...cops included) and I've only been pulled over once (and it wasn't for speeding).
The best way to keeps cops off your tail is to use your eyes. Always be looking in front of you and scanning for police. Seems to work for me...see cop...slow down. Save your money for a P4 loader :)
Take it for what it's worth. GL.

ok first of all there are no JAMMERS on the market that actually work... this is cause if they did they would be in violation of fcc codes and be considered an ACTIVE jamming device all the one that are sold are PASSIVE thus they dont really work..... plus most of them nly claim to be able to jam X and K bands and not the ever popular KA band...
as far as radar detectors go dont waste your money on CHEAP ones they are the ones that do not give you enough time to react and like someone else said they only let you know that you just got a ticket.... spend your money on a top of the line model and that is where it pays off like a ESCORT 8500, Valentine One, ore a BEL 990(i am nt sure of the bel model number, but it is somethign like that)..
with on of these detectors you will actually get warnings of cops from very far distances on highways etc...I currently have a ESCORT 8500 and it is awsome ,sometimes it goes off 2 miles in advanceand the signal just keeps growing till i pass the cop(granted this is in a ideal flat landscape aka parts of texas) but even in hilly areas it works wonders... I used to havea a BEL 880 and it was nice also at the time it was top of the line also and still is a good one...good ones will false less and generally have more options.. .the 8500 has the ability to tell you the frequecy of radar they are using in number form.. also the ability to track multiple radar guns ,, so if there is more than one cop you will see two signals... the valentine one also has this ability plus the ability to tell you wich direction it is coming from (which is interesting yet really not neccassary)...
one feture that the 8500 has is turning X band completely OFF thus it wont be going off at all ever , when was the last time a cop used X (maybe if they have some old clunker cop car they still have it.. they all have KA now and a few still have older K bands..if you get a ticket on X band you were not driving fast enough!(some cops have laser but that is rare)
I have also before going top of the line used all sorts of radar detectors and some were ok some were really bad, falsing all the time and not going off when a gun was pointed directly at them...aka avoid uniden and cobra and anythign with RATSHACK on it...
In the past 4 years since using GOOD radar detectors I have not gotten a ticket and I drive extremely fast.. I am the guy that you sit there in your mustang while doing 80-90 saying "haha we are going to see that guy pulled over in a few miles" , but somehow you never see me pulled over.....
in conclusion I would like to say dont waste your money on a cheap radar detector or a fake jammer,, get a GOOD detector. even though they may cost more ask yourself how much a ticket costs.... radar detectors are not for those that get frustrated or for those that are goign to ignore the thing when it is going off,, when my Radar detector hits KA i know that there is a cop out there and I slow down .. if i dont get another signal rather quickly i will slowly regain speed then back to full throttle a minute later...
if you want more testing info go to http://www.speedzones.com/
they do annual testing and are rather unbiased...
