I've got a 12 year old Sharp 27" that is about to call it quits on me. When I turn it on the top half of the screen is black. Slowly the black moves up allowing more of the picture to come in until it reaches about 1" from the top of the screen. Then the black line just sits there. All audio works fine. Does anyone here know of a DIY TV repair web site that will help me diagnose and troubleshoot this TV. Or, is anyone here a technician willing to offer me some advise?
Thanks.

Heres a few hope this helps.
anatekcorp.com
electronix.com/monitorsample.html
geocities.com/monitorss/
I havent found much in the line of free help but any help is better than none. If you find a real good free one let me know as well. As far as your picture problem its probably a High Voltage problem. Could also be a deflection yoke going bad on you but I would look into the HV section first since it also runs the deflection yoke.
Good luck.

Oh yeah, Not a lot of diff between monitors and T.V.s most of the time. They all have the same things going on just a diff signal going in.
