Here is an example of a letter that you can either cut and paste or make modifications to to send to our leaders and to the supreme court justices to voice your opinions on what has transpired over the last week.
The only thing that is asked is that if you do send this out, please sign your name to it. Unfortunately, in today's world a "nick" will not be taken seriously and it will be more likely to be ignored by those who have the power to effect change.
I ask that if you do have a problem with the latest ruling that you do send this or something like it out to your MP, Our "esteemed" leader, the supreme court justices, and anyone else that you can think of. A complete mailing list of MP's should be available on www.legal-rights.org and if not, we can find a link to one and let everyone know if interested.
Please remember that as a group we are able to make a difference, but one or two have alot harder time. This is one of those times where it is imperitive that we choose to voice our feelings about this issue as if we wait much longer we will be to late.

Subject: Can-Am Ruling
To the Honorable Justices of the Supreme Court of Canada;
I wish to express my dismay at the ruling handed down today during the controversy over acquiring of International Broadcast and Telecommunication signals via satellite.
Principles that are assured in the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, the principles of Freedom of Information and Ideas and Freedom to media of communication are the principles of which I speak. The Justices have chosen to allow this intrusion of the Government of Canada into such a fundamental right, in fact the corner stone of western democratic civilization, and I now fear for my future rights in this country.
For a long period of time, Canada has been held as a beacon of all that is positive within the world, a place where big business and government bureaucracy and partisan politics have not been held above the rights of Canadians. Today that cornerstone was irrevocably pulled out without thought to all of those who it will effect. The principles that Canada has stood for, and many have died protecting are not being regarded in a situation where it is imperative that they are. In today's world it is too easy to sway to our present government and believe the stories wrapped around their pretty words, but it takes a truly brave and patriotic person to stand up for the real people.......Canadians.
Not only do I fear what my future will now bring, but the legacy that is left for my children's future and their children's future. This is spawning a legacy where the government will have the right to take any rights that they feel interferes with their supporter's business and ability to make money and now change the laws to suit their needs. This takes us away from being a democracy into a totalitarian state, where there is freedom to do nothing. It is a loss of humanity that will be the final result of this type of action. The loss of belief in their being a place where people can be judged on what is truly right or wrong. This is what we as Canadian continually fight for and what we will continue to fight for.
It is imperative that we not allow this to become our future, and I truly hope that you are able to take what is said here, not as an attack but as the concerns of a Canadian citizen. A typical Canadian citizen tired of seeing big business and government ignore the wishes and desires of the population, and only thinking about themselves and the bottom line.
Does the individual's right to earn a living or a profit through a business venture over ride another's rights to freedom of expression, of media of communication, freedom of association and freedom to receive and impart information and ideas regardless of frontiers or type of media under our Charter?
Please think of how you would feel being told that your rights to choose are now taken away, and ask yourselves where it will end and do you truly want to see it? How far of a stretch is it to now start limiting access to what Canadians can and can't view on the internet, or what they can and can't read in a book, soon it goes further and further down a path that is impossible to change. I know where it will end, once you start down this road it will end in a non-democratic state, because that is man's inherent tendency.
These are my concerns and I appreciate the Honorable Justices time and understanding in my expression of these concerns to them.
Yours truly
