According to an email I received from Alientech, temp injunctions have been extended to BC and QC - can anyone confirm?
Until the Canadian Charter of Rights hearing on the topic of Freedom of Choice in viewing foreign broadcasts in Canada is ruled on, by The Canadian Supreme Court, the recent ruling on the legality of DSS testing in Canada is on hold. Three Provincial lower courts (BC, ON, QE) have placed an injunction against any prosecution of Canadian DSS dealers on hold.. It seems the lower Court Judges
have more common sense than the Supreme Court Judges.. For now (until May 7, 2002) our business is still OK in Canada and there is every indication that injunction will be extended until the Charter Challenge is finalized.
To protect ourselves and our customers we are suspending our PayPal order processing. Our PayPal account is NOT frozen at this time (May 2, 2002) but many other DSS dealers have had their accounts frozen. We have ALWAYS felt that any customer who uses ANY online payment
method and ANY form of credit card to purchase test equipment is taking a needless risk. Now is the time to be EXTRA cautious and
use Money orders or cash. Yes it is slower BUT get used to it or you will have legal problems down the road if we lose this Charter Challenge... Make sure you know who you are dealing with and buy only from dealers who have a long history of looking after their customers. There are enough very good dealers who are well known, now is not the time to try and save a few bucks by trying out an unknown dealer..
Remember when the hobby is in turmoil the scammers, cheats, thieves and trolls will be very active and trying to separate you from your hard earned cash..
Please read and heed the following cut and paste bits of information..
