Just paid a visit to my programming provider and asked him if anyone in Winnipeg is fighting for an injuction like in Ont., B.C., and Que.
I am curious if any of the dealers in the city are going to anti up and fight this or will they let everyone else do their work for them.
Before anyone bashes me I made two donations to the last battle and I am only someone who pays someone to program my cards. So as you can see I have lined a couple of dealers pockets already and would hope they take this round a little more serious then they did the last.
May I remind them that I may eventually be without my DTV, they of course will be without a first or second income as it will be totally illegal and most of us will not venture near them as the consequences are not worth the gain.
Hope someone here in Wpg gets the ball rolling so once again I can supply my dealer with money for reprogamming and he can hit the casino's.
To all who have contributed in the past and again in the furture thank you.

Behind the scenes there are some things happening, not moving at a very fast rate however. Not sure about other cities but in Winnipeg not all the "big" dealers can get along nor trust each other, which makes it a bit tougher. No one really wants to be the spokesman and by the same token there are some that you would not want to be the spokesman for various reasons. My personal stance is to wait and see what happens in Ontario as it will be the precedent and go from there. Regardless some of us will still be around in various forms I imagine.

Well keep me posted as I am very interested in what is obviously happening her in the Peg. It's too bad there is a lack of trust between dealers as there is enough between consumers and dealers.
Why can't everyone just be straight up and stop screwing with people, it's all about making profit so at least be honest as the money pit is large enough for everyone.
Well hopefully the injunction will be here soon as hoping for Ontario to carry everyone else may be wishful thinking, we better take care of ourselves.
Don't the dealers here know they have to work together on this rather then trying to screw each other. What is it with these guys, they make the Russians look like longtime capitalists. Worse case we can all send our cards to Ontario while the Peg boys fight each other

No one said any of the dealers in Winnipeg are fighting, just a lack of trust.
The lack of trust between consumers and dealers in Winnipeg is well earned, actually that is the reason I got into it. I would disagree that it is all about money for all dealers.
I personally value my reputation much more than any dollar amount as that can not be purchased. Ask anyone that deals with me. I tell it like it is, straight up, and if someone does not like the answer, they should not have asked the question.
What happens in Ontario will ultimately decide what happens here in Manitoba. I will keep you posted.

Thanks for the insight, but I would disagree with you slightly that I believe it may have started out as a hobby for some but now it is more motivated by money especially for the big dealers. Let's face it the dealers have given nothing to this cause, they only take. i bet I can count on my two hands the number of dealers who gave to battle more then me.
Just look at everyone charging $10 for a fix and no receipts, do you believe they claim this as income. Let's face it I used to use Eddie and although I knew he was the best at what he did I never really trusted him, maybe it is the way this business in when you are walking a fine line.
That is probably why I always have in the back of my mind that money talks and try and go to dealers who have a good rep. I am sure you are honest but you are the exception and not the rule, too many guys come and go and inbetween they scam.
I work in the retail field and help run a small company, although it is interesting and fun at the end of the day it is all about making money to survive in the competitive market place.
I know some of the dealers do this as a hobby but alot do this to boost their income, especially if they don't have to claim it. Let's face it this business is capitalism at is finest. Sell for as much as the market will bear. Look at HU cards, when I first got mine programmed it was $350 now you can get them for $50 bucks if you have a card.
I respect what you are saying and how you run your business but i believe there are a lot of dealers who are in it for the quick buck and nothing more and that maybe the death of their cash cow.
Anyways let's keep are fingers crossed that Ontario goes well or this hobby will die quickly, because without that income we can all be assured that dealers will not kick in anything if they have nothing coming in.
I have been fortunate to find a dealer through a friends of mine who are good friends with his family, that makes the trust alittle easier.

A very well thought out and articulate answer.
I agree with most of your points and do consider myself to be an exception.
I do run one of the largest satellite companies in Manitoba.
I have donated.
I did claim my income.

Thanks KidSat for the kind reply, I would be happy to possibly deal with you in the furture provided there is a future. It is always good to have a backup straight up dealer handy because too many times the one you have just vanishes.
Anyways lets hope the dealers in Manitoba unite and try to help the cause or we all lose.
Again thank you for your kind words and I am off to contribute to the cause, hoping it isn't too late. If it is hopefully some dealers have actually put a buck or two away to help the cause.
Two or three years without DTV, boy would prices be high if we won on the charter then!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Goodluck, I am with you in this battle, albeit for different reasons but in the end for the freedom that we all want and once enjoyed and were guaranteed under our Charter of Rights.
It may only be TV, but what is next, magazines, movies? They already let american this and american that into our country so why should tv be any different? I thought the days of big Canadian Monopolies were dead when MTS, Bell etc. were made to compete in an open marekt place. Why not ban all foreign businesses like Walmart who put the mom and pop businesses who built this country out of work.
Why let in big box stores who destroy Canadian institutons, yes the employ lots of people but they also put out of business just as many small businesses who in the long run employ just as many.
There can not be one set of rules for one industry and another for something else. If our Government wants to open the country up to foreign investment and competition then open it up all the way, that is the only way you will survive and thrive. Make Canadians compete and stop thinking we are less capable then our American brothers.
The Liberals are like parents, they are afraid to let go and see what their children can do. Let them go and watch us grow and compete, we have the talent and drive to stand on our own two feet, and if Bell and Starchoice can't then they should step aside and let someone else in who isn't afraid to compete. Instead they want mommy and daddy to protect them because they are afraid and won't go out of the house.
Well too bad, it's time to grow up and be on your own, even mentally challenged individuals succeed when given the opportunity to be independant.
Well enough of the preaching as my blood pressure is starting to rise, I am off to watch the CBC and the remainder of the Leafs and Senators game, I guess I'll have to listen to the radio for the Colorado, St.Jose game because I don't think our great broadcasting community had enough brains to televise this game. Oh wait it's two American teams, no one in Canada would be interested?? Sorry the Government doesn't believe there is enough Canadian content in that game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
