How can i view the 119 sat without using a plus receiver? Can i use a a-b switch to go between the 101 and 119 lnb?? Do i have to let the receievr see the 101 first to get the signal and then switch over to 119? Thanks for any info.

An A/B switch will work for everything except the NASA channel.
Another way you can do both would be to install a 22KHz tone generator in the coax between the receiver and the multiswitch. When you want to watch the programming from 119, turn it on, it adds the tone that tells the multiswitch to use the Sat B signals.
ChannelMaster, and probably a few others, make the tone generator. Check the ChannelMaster website.
Good luck

You CANNOT get NASA tv on a non-plus receiver. The Plus receiver has a speacial guide also that lets you get the extra channels. The only way to get NASA on the 119 is to use a Plus receiver and a 18" pointed at the 119 or a Plus receiver and a 24" dish.
Old method don't know if it works any more as I am out of town for a few weeks and I can't verify it.
The special procedure to get NASA on a non-plus receiver!
NASA -
With an A/B switch connected tune to the 101W satellite, tune to channel 295 (PBS Kids). Flip the A/B switch at once, you'll see NASA. However, it's only good for 5-10 minutes. When the 119W channel guide reaches your receiver, the channel will be gone. If you want to watch more NASA, you have to repeat the same process again.

The 22KHz tone generator is for plus IRd's that have the tone generator for instructing the 4.5 thru 6th gen ird's (firmware upgradable ...aka - plus receiver's)to switch between the 101 110 and 119 birds via the multiswitch( Mentioning just for clarification purposes)
as TheGeek50 and Smack mentioned...you can utilize an A/B switch to do this(Make sure your dish is aimed at the 119 or use 2 round 18 inchers aim one at the 101 and the other at the 119 in combination with the multi-switch or a 24 oval with a Multi-switch and correct LNB's set-up with dual LNB's and or the C-sat LNB Kit >>>>>
(if neccesary or applicable for your perticular situation)>>...and also make sure that the A/B switch is a "High Isolation" design...or you may get interference and or bleedover from the 101....not to mention the possibility of ruining your IRD (due to the switch failing or bleedover)
I use 2 18 Inchers and a combination of 1st 2nd and 5th generation Ird's for testing...and have tested the 101 and 119 in the manner mentioned above using the older ird and a "High Isolation" A/B Switch in the past... using an older non-plus ird you will get you some para todos channels and a few locals (pre-spotbeam days for me LOL) but the guide will not map correctly with the current channel guide
I didnt have the Info on "temporarily Receiving" the NASA channel at that time or i would have tried that...nor have I tried the Sat C kit due to not having the luxury of a HD DSS IRD ...but hoping Santa will bring me a UTV and maybe a HD capable IRD down the road when the prices drop considerably ;)

When trying to find the 119 bird -(using signal strength on IRD) should I use any of the Transponders --- (using 3rd Gen IRD - and one 18" dish)
Also -- when going for the new locals should I set the "normal" guide byte to FF? or do I use the new locations -- or are they just for the 5th Gen units?
Thought I would check them out before spending the bucks on a new 24" dish
