Installing Dish 500

Which transponder should I use in my Dish 500 setup? I tried earlier today and didn't get a signal. Had my wife watching the meter, but she never reported any change. Does it matter which transponder I use? Any suggestions are appreciated.

The transponder doesn't really matter, just leave it at default.

If you have separate dual LNBs with sw21 switches, try aiming for the 119 by itself and then hook everything back up and run the check switch.

If you have Twin or Quad heads, try running the check switch before you aim. Dish receivers can be picky about that sometimes. You can sit there for hours and get nothing because the check wasn't run.

Use the zipcode/receiver info to properly set the dish and use a compass to aim. That should get you close enough that you only have to move slightly in any direction to adjust for peak.
