I'm going to be installing an oval dish with a 4x4 multiswitch. I'm currently using a regular round dish dual lnb which feeds a Spaun 2x12 multiswitch daisy chained to Spaun 2x8 multiswich. Will these multiswitches when connected to the new 4x4 plus multiswitch work to allow plus receivers to select channels from both the 101 and 119 sats? Or do I need to replace the old multiswitches with those designed specifically for multi-satellite?

You will need new multiswitches

The "old" single satellite multiswitches can (usually) be cascaded.

The new multi-sat multiswitches cannot be cascaded. All of them that I've seen do not pass the 22KHz "tone" that is sent from the new receivers (the "tone" tells the multiswitch which satellite to select).

Since the tone is not passed, the selection of which sat will not be made where it needs to be made (at the MS closest the dish).

If you need more than 4 outputs, you'll need new multiswitches.

Good Luck

Scott

Spaun does make Duo-Sat cascadable multiswitches. Even so, I don't see how these would let me use my existing MS's since, from what you are saying, they will not pass the 22KHz tone. I need a 15 way switch so it looks like I'm going to need to spend $400-$500 just for the switch. Makes this project a little less likely to happen.
Thanks

if you haven't been here... http://www.caseserve.com/ht/dbs/RCA_DSA-8900E_alternative_wiring.htm it might give you some ideas.

i've got a 5x8 multiswitch (not a spaun... don't remember where i got it either (+- $150.00)).

i don't know why you couldn't use two powered multiswitches to split the 110 & 119 signals before you sent them to the two 5x8's.

good luck!
