I haven't received the letter yet but I imagine it just a matter of
time. I have purchased a programmer for valid reasons but since I
am a DirecTV customer they are going to try and extort some money
out of me. At least from what I've read that's the case with some
people. The fact only of purchasing a programmer makes you guilty.
Well the since in the long run this is going to cost me money --
either for paying for a lawyer or settling with them -- I wanted
to find some way to stop DirecTV from this current course of action.
It seems they are threatening a lot of people with that number
growing every day. This makes for a bigger pool of people that has
some influence.
The only way to affect a company is to attack it's bottom line. I've
heard suggestions of dropping their DirecTV subscriptions and
contacting their state's Attorney General. Both of these are great
especially the second one if all they have is a name on a customer
list. Now how about attacking them from another front, particularly
that of company's that advertise or support DirecTV. For example,
let BlockBuster know that since they support DirecTV and their
harrassment tactics you will stop renting movies from them.
I don't know what other company's advertise on or support DirecTV
but I thought this may be one more way to stop DirecTV. Well, what
do people think? Is there any way something like this will make a
difference? I would assume that lots of people would have to write
in order to make some difference.
