Disclaimer: I found this site on the Internet and have never been involved in any sort of DirectTV piracy. I am stating this in case any idiots from DirecTV try to use the fact that I posted at this site against me. I'm posting here because I am an AMERICAN and have the right to free speech, as guaranteed by the 1st amendment to the constitution, and am being sued and assume there is a community here who can help answer my legal questions.

I'm posting this message as a seperate thread, as I have a major issue with Vector Technologies being busted for piracy -- because as they were promoting themselves as a legitimate smartcard hardware retailer (way back when) to the general public -- they were doing illegal crap behind the scenes.

And even furthermore, after busted for doing illegal S---, they said to DirecTV "it wasn't us, it was the users"... which is exactly what DirecTV wanted to hear... Vector signed a little agreement with DirecTV that said "here you go DirecTV, we'll give you $X million of dollars (even though we can't pay it and will immediately declare bankruptcy) all our customers are the PIRATES, go after them bad mother F-----'s causing all your problems".

Nice.

Someone needs to pay a visit to Kentucky or whever in the hell those Vector bastards live.

That's pretty darn naive don't you think.

You're getting pissed because there is no honour amongst thieves.

Actually I think he is pissed because Dave sent him a letter because he bought a legitmate use product from a company that also sold equipment for non legitimate use. Unfortunetly he found out the hard way that guilt by assoctiation is live & well in the American judicial system.

Thats the same thing as me asking a guy on a corner for an aspirin. Now what if that guy on the corner is under survaliance for dealing drugs. I am now on tape getting something from a suspected drug dealer & I have to prove it really was an aspirin because I had a headache. I know it is an extreme example, but I have used my Netsiginia 210 to emulate & to program a door access control system card.

I think he has a case that is easily winnable, however, it may take more resources to get in front of a jury than he is willing to expend. Corporations, like the government, have much deeper pockets than any of us.
