People are scared. Most people getting the letter are your avg "Joe sixpack", Who go to work every day. Kiss their wife play with their kids. They have a house & car payment. and not much spare money in the bank. The want to have nothing to do with lawyers courts and Judges they get this letter and they fear their going to lose EVERYTHING over Hacking some free cable tv.
They never know it could come to this. So they pay the $3500. and hear their wife say "I told you so" for the rest of his life. :gg

why because a soon as DTV lawyers come out against someone that has the money and time to fight this crap an WIN. They say never mind and move on to the next "joe sixpack" that will give up the cash with out a fight. Bullies is what they are.
