Instead of all of us venting our frustrations here in this forum, we ALL need to fightback against DAVE,whether you have received a letter yet or not, we are all in this together. I have spoken with a police officer friend of mine and he looked over the letter and said (like most others) that there is no legal way that this would be able to hold up in court. What he suggested, and what I am suggesting to all of you is for us to use the Media and our State Representatives, to help us with this fight and get it out in the open public. We need to let them know what Dave is trying to do to thousands of innocent people, destroying some lives and making others unbearable. Dave is using scare tactics and harassment to try and get as much money as he can, without any evidence behind it. If the lawyers were doing this in an acceptable manner, they would be looking at each case on a case by case manner, but they aren’t, they are not listening to anybody, they believe if you have any equipment, than you are guilty of stealing their signal. We need to let these media outlets know of all the legal uses of programmers, maybe sending them links to Microsoft’s site and others to show that these have legitimate uses, other than what Dave is charging. If all of us send letters, or e-mails to the Editors of our City Newspapers, Local News stations, National Magazines, and maybe even other City Newspapers where the current court cases are being held. If someone could post these Court Case Numbers, then the news agencies could keep track of these cases, and do a follow up. You may want to also send them a copy of the letter, to show the harassing legal jargon being used, and make sure the law firms number is on it, so that they can be called to explain their right to be doing what they are doing. Also, we might want to let the Media know what the "settlement" is that they are offering, $3500 or goto court. We need to make sure that it is clear that this is against our American rights to be treated in the manner that we are all being treated. As far as I know we are all still “Innocent Until Proven Guilty”. We also need to make sure we give the Media and the Representatives places to go to look for more information on this, such as www.legal-rights.org The more educated they are on the subject, the more they can back up our claims. But please make sure that the letters or e-mails are written in a professional manner, don’t use profanity or other things to get your point across, that would not be helping any of us, remember we need their support. Let’s use our advantage, and getthis put on every headline in the nation! I hope all of you will join me in this fight, at least we can do something about this, instead of feeling helpless, we can make our voices heard!
