Most newer HD receivers will only work with a p4, Do a search, there was a thread not to long ago on this subject.

yeah, actually, that's what got me looking around. i was waiting around to try to get the sony hd200 only to find out it didn't work with the p4 card.
so now i'm trying to find a different hd receiver that will work with the p3 card.
or does just the regular $150 sony dss receiver that i can pick up at fry's work with the p3 card still?
also, any tips on buying the receiver without setting up for activation? i went to circuit city and best buy and both said i needed to activate within 30 days. i heard u could just pick up a unit at fry's w/o activation requirement but wasn't sure if this was true or not.

The Sony should work, I hope thats a Dolby Digital ird for that price, If you can get any box without a contract I would do it.

All of the HD IRD's work with the P3, EXCEPT the new series that just came out. Of the new series, the only ones that have been released so far are the Sony HD-200, and the Samsung 160. The Zenith 520 (?) will be the next one out, and it is the same unit as the Sony, as they are both produced by Goldstar (LG Electronics)...
