How exactly does the IRD get the software upgrade? I talked to directv and they said they have nothing to do with upgrading the software in the receiver. I believe my software version is 40d. I can't find an option to get rid of the grey bars when i'm watching HDTV, I want the black bars, and i've been through all the menus, including the service menu and can't find an option. Is there anyway to totally re-boot the receiver to the factory defaults? The reset switch inside just resets the receiver, all my settings stay the same. Anyone have access to a DCT100 service manual?
