Talked my boys out of a new puppy, but it looks like it's going to cost me a new game system. I have a PS1 and a bunch of games that we still play, but I have to move up.

Do PS2's play the old PS1 games? Will they play DVD's like the XBox?

Is the XBox even ok to watch movies with?

What about the Gamecube?

Whose games are best? (Keep in mind, kids are young)

Any suggestions/opinions are appreciated.

Go PS2.

They will play all the PS1 games. Play DVD movies and you cant find a better selection of games then those for the PS2. Also alot of good PS2 games are on the greatest hits list and can be had for $19.95 or so.

Ya it a toss up they are both cool the X box is just a bios flash. Then it can be used as a computer also.

The day I own an X-Box is the day I can borrow my friends, copy it and install it in my home....

Thats how i got all my other microsoft products.. (sorry Bill, your out about $200.. But i guess you have a couple billion more so it wont hurt too bad)

Back the the real reason this thread came to be.. I would go with a PS2, On thing to consider about the X-box is that it WILL NOT play DVD movies out of the box.... That costs extra (go figure)..

Advaced issues to consider:
Copy Protecting Breeching (I saved over XX dollors by beating the system). On the PS2 there are a number of easy ways to UNDO their copy protection.. My favorate is the game shark.. This small device simply plugs into the PS2 and allows you to play back-ups

Theres cracks for the X-Box, but i dont care :)

You can also get a broadband/Ethernet adapter for the PS2 (online games anyone?) Im sure microsoft offers a simalar Item, but who wants to look at a blue screen?...

I wouldent by an X-Box, If Microsoft gains a large enough market share.. The game industry will no longer exist.. sony and nintendo will fold under Bill Gates fat ass..

How many other OS's are there for the PC?... You see my point.

I don't think Bill will be closing down Sony anytime soon. Nintendo maybe, they have been a step behind the top systems for to long.

I appreciate the information.
