The is a joke but...

I havent recived a letter from direct tv, but i would like a peice of this law suit...

Dave has been collecting IP adresses so they may better identify people who my be commiting sigal theft, no Douht my IP is on the list..
I would like to sue DTV for conspracy to commit slander and harrasment.. As i have reason to belive they are collecting this information for these perposes,.. just as i 'Might' be visiting these sites with the intention of stealing their signal.

So go ahead and send me a letter dave...I dont even own any ISO hardware...Freaking Commie bastards :cool:

Logging IP addresses? Out of curiousity, how can dave get my IP from here unless someone from here gives it up?

Isn't that like saying Dave is logging IP addresses at the Dish Network website so that he can contact Dish customers to convert them over to DTV. Unless Dish gives up the IP info, how will Dave get it?

I am really interested in knowing, because, even if it is 100% legal to be here on the website, who needs the hassles of being here by large corporations with very deep pockets?

And, if they ARE logging my IP, that might be something they could use. Keep in mind, that simply browsing the website it not a crime. But, from what I understand, if you ask for info on how to hack, or, assist with the info, that is, in itself, against the law, even if you are not actually hacking. This is my interpretation from the letter I read (I didn't get one, but my best friend did). Of course, the letter was from their side, so, it could be misleading.

I am so confused that I don't know what to think.. this is exactly where Dave wants me, and everyone else.

Well to the best of my understanding Recently Dave has managed to Obtain the Domain names of a number of DSS related site and has been using These said Domains to log IP's as their former members returned to find a Statment from DTV..

I Was in no way stating that DSSCHAT.COM is logging IP's for dave or anything of that sort.. Many others here have seem or heard of this new Evil.. I belive SAT50 fell victim to Dave in this way?.

Another good one is a trick that the music industry has tried to pull... By brow beating ISP's into ratting people out who acess Certain sites.

Alright. Now I understand what you meant. That is a gimme.. If you go to somebody's website, they can log your IP.. but, what we need to do now is make sure that we know in advance who has been taken over.

I have never been to a website that has been taken over my Dave, so I am not worried personally, but, I think it is a good idea to find out first..

I suppose that there is no warning when Dave takes over a site, is there? Sometimes checking the WHOIS at ICANN is not enough.

A good check is to stay on top of what sites are in litigation with DTV right now. Sat 50 had been in litigation for a while, and now they fell. So if you check some of the legal rights websites...(aka legal-rights.org or satlaw.org) you will see lists of cases against websites. If there is a lawsuit pending, its a good guess that eventually they will fall to DTV.

well on the note of getting ip addresses from tis site it has been discussed and apparently it DOES happen... albeit happens without rise's permission but he cant control hackers and so forth. there was a good write up on this a few weeks ago by i beleive TTRK in the legal rights forum here and i will try and find it and edit this post later.
