An article was brought to my attention that I had only a quick second to check out, but the jist of it was this. A journalist went to Iran for business. As he landed, he noticed all the satellite dishes on the rooftops. He was somewhat amazed as he had a pre-conceived idea about what this area was going to be like - and this was not how he envisioned it.
While he was there, he learned that about 70% of these dishes used "illegally programmed cards", but the users were not worried about them going down or getting "fried" as they only cost about 5 pounds each.
As we were discussing this back here in the homeland, we were wondering if the $$$$ that is being extorted out of people over here in the US is to "underwrite" the other countries, where the majority of satelite users are getting their satellite tv for free??? Similiar to the pharmaceutical industry charging an arm and a leg for drugs here and then selling them dirt cheap in other countries......
I wonder what would happen if the attorneys who are sending out the letters were to send one to someone in Iran what the response of the Iranian would be?????
Ahhhh, to be on a continent where we consider ourselves to be "civilized" - only to find out that being civilized = getting the shaft, in this case!! :R I am not sure how many homes = 70% of the Iranian user base, but I am sure it has got to be quite a few. I will be waiting to see what happens when the attorneys try to step off the NA continent to make sure that they get what they feel they are entitled to........
