View Full Version : What Pi$$es You Off?

What makes me really crazy is the morons with Nextel phones that use that stupid walkie talkie feature at full freakin' blast!
Don't these people know there is a PRIVACY feature so you don't have to blast your conversation through the entire building.
And, if you happen to be sitting next to a latin, forget it! They freakin' shout everything to begin with! Now you have them blaring their conversations both ways.. one person screaming into the microphone and the speaker turned up full blast!
Shut off the freakin' speaker and put the phone up to your ear! I am not interested in what you have to say, especially in a movie theatre or restaurant.
What pi$$es you off?

Alright..
No disrespect to my fellow Nextel users.. I too use a Nextel phone. But, I do something different.. I actually open my phone (flip phone) and shut off the speaker so I can listen in private.
For those of you who want to scream into your phones and blare them at full blast, at least do something useful like yell out the winners to an upcoming horse race.

Exactly. Someone needs to write a book on Nextel ettiquitte.. I think that more and more phones will have the walkie-talkie feature very soon since the patent is expiring soon.
Proper ettiquette is to press your mic button one time so the other side gets a beep. If they don't answer in 30 seconds or so, then use the alert function. But, don't just start talking to the other person because they could be in a meeting or something.

hehehe...Qwest called me to sell me more services (on my unlisted number that I pay THEM for) and I told them to put me on their DNC list. The guy told me that it would take 45 days and I hit the roof! I told them that if I received one more call from them, I would complain to: My city councillor, the mayor, the County Commission, the state Public Regulation Commission, the Better Business Bureau, and last but not least, our state Attorney General (who at the time was pursuing rogue telemarketers). Not only did I not get any more calls from them, I received a personal letter of apology from some executive in marketing. Now that's service. :D

I had AT&T call me asking if I'd be interested in changing my long distance carrier. I told them that I wasn't until that very moment. The person on the other end was excited till I told them that AT&T was already my long distance carrier but they wouldn't be any longer becasue if they were so stupid that they didn't know I was already their customer, I had no interest in staying their customer. The sales person got very apologetic and ended up giving me $100 free long distance if I promissed not to change.
BrainDamage
November 7th, 2002, 06:21 AM
$100 long distance? Damn! Unless they have some kind of inflated rates and monthly charges, that is a good deal.
I pay under a nickel a minute for my LD and there are NO monthly charges, NO minimum usage, NO hidden charges.
If I use 2 minutes, I get charged a dime plus customary taxes that every LD company has to collect.
So, based on my rate, you got a TON of minutes to use! Good going!
Of course, if AT&T charges you more than 4.9 cents a minute, and monthly charges, it might not be such a hot incentive to stick with them.
I like the fact that I can pay for what I use and nothing more.

Father sues team for not naming son MVP
Associated Press
TORONTO -- A Canadian father is suing the New Brunswick Amateur Hockey Association after his 16-year-old son failed to win the league's most valuable player award.
Michael Croteau is seeking about $200,000 in psychological and punitive damages from the association. He also demands that the MVP trophy be taken from the winner and given to his son, Steven.
Croteau told the Globe and Mail newspaper in a story published Thursday that Steven was the New Brunswick Bantam AAA leading scorer, which made him the most valuable player. He said the youth was so crushed when another player won the award at a banquet in March that he lost his desire to play.
The league's nine coaches or managers select the most valuable player, and voting results are not disclosed.
Steven had a league-leading 45 goals and 42 assists in 27 games, while the boy named most valuable player finished fourth in league scoring with 21 goals and 39 assists.
"How do you justify that?'' Croteau said in the Globe and Mail. "It's quite obvious he's the most valuable forward in the league.''
Brian Whitehead, the New Brunswick Amateur Hockey Association executive director, confirmed the lawsuit was filed but declined to discuss details.
If they award this guy $200,000 this will PI$$ ME OFF!!!!!
It may even mess me up psychologically. Damn, I smell another law suit.

What pi$$es me off is a fairly new deal. Not only am I pi$$ed off but I believe it is a very scary thing and any American should be So Scared that they Crap their pants !! What I'm talking about is How Dtv is allowed to extort money from anyone they please ! What a great way for Dtv to collect several Thousand dollars from people with out ANY proof of wrong doing. From what I've been reading, as long as you purchased something that "THEY" say has only one use (A BOLD FACE LIE) "THEY" say is illegal "THEY" can sue your A$$ in court ! WHAT ??? isn't this America where we are all Innocent until proven guilty ?? Can you imagine getting a letter from let say the post office and they want $3500 bucks from you or there going to take you to court because they deemed e-mail an illegal way of sending messages because it take's away from there profit margine !!! Or get a letter from Ford demanding the same because you bought Chevy !!!
I think it's funny how this extortion attempt by Dtv is not in every paper in the U.S.
Damn, Winona Rider gets pinched for shop lifting and it's in every paper and on Tv for weeks and eveyone has an opinion about it ! BUT ask anyone about how Dtv is extorting money from innocent (until proven guilty) people and they have NO clue what your talking. Why ???
Do not kid yourself Dtv is engaged in corporate Terrorism ! Period ! All they have are lie's and Threats
Rant complete LOL:)

What gives the FBI juristiction in civil matters? It's like when you pay a quarter for a newspaper and take 2 out of the machine, does the FBI have the right to seize your computer, equipment and detain you? Where did they inherit these new found powers? They have no right to investigate civil matters...What's next FBI profilers testifying in divorce court?
Well Mrs Jones you shouldn't have married him cause he fits the profile of someone that marries 2 times, you should've known better...

Exactly Bonedaddy !! Why is the Justice department not getting involved in this matter ?? Dtv is Breaking the laws seriously ! The J.D. should be telling Dtv to cease and desist now !!! If Dtv is allowed to make anyone they want into criminals then no American is safe from this kind of Terrorism, And don't kid yourself "Terrorism" is exactly what it is, Period !!
So what's next Dish Network gonna start sueing because you should of chosen them instead of Dtv or Vice Versa ??
Just owning a computer could be grounds to charge you with "Hacking" because "Well, it's possible"
Start charging people with murder because they own a gun ??!!
Charge someone with drunk driving because they own a car ??!!
this list could go on and on !!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh yeah and by the way : JD power and Associates just voted Dtv #1 in customer service, Guess they don't know about the Threats and extortion letters that Dtv is sending in the mail !!! Is dtv #1 cause they threatend them too LOL !!!!!! "Make us #1 in customer service or will get some sleeze bag lawyer to sue you on a bunch a groundless charges !!!!!!!"

These days, what irks me a bit, is when the TV people go "on the street" and ask the "common people" what they think about the current war with the Taliban - or the possible upcoming war with Iraq - and the respondent's answer back with "I am for Peace". Duh-----isn't everyone??? I have yet to hear anyone - and I mean ever in my lifetime - say that they would rather have a war than have peace.
I guess I would probably ask the rocket scientist that answers that way whether or not his/her bags were packed and ready to go over there and tell the "bad guys" (not PC, I know) that we want them to get on the peace program.
I agree that there will never be peace everywhere as we on this continent define peace. I don't believe our goal has ever been to give other countries peace. But, when a country is being bullied by another and there has been a plea for help, how can we turn our backs???
Just to set the record straight - I am for peace, will vote for peace and do whatever is asked of me to maintain our peace. But, I would sure feel alot (sorry - just had to do that :) ) better if we had a military that was stronger to back us up so we don't have to depend on the US as much. I believe in the sports theory that "the best offense is a strong defense".
Just my $.02 for today - that is all I can afford..... ;)

Just some things about the phone company debate earlier. Here are some things you can do to get money back or get LD for free.
1st, make them compete. I was with Verizon for awhile, when one day AT&T called me, I told them I was thinking about switching.... The lady tried all the normal 5cents a minute crap on me but I just wasn't that interested, I told her when I switched to Verizon they gave me 300 minutes of long distance free with no limitations on usage(lie)... Anyway after about 10 min of talking back and forth she says hold on a minute, and that she has to talk with her manager... She comes back on the phone and tells me that she'll send me a check for $50 cash, and give me 100 LD minutes free (my jaw dropped)... Of course I said yes and I went ahead and switched. Once I was off the phone I started thinking... I wonder if other companies will offer me cash...so a few days later I called Sprint and started telling them I was thinking about switching...told them what AT&T gave me and after a minute or two she comes back on the line and says they'll send me a $100 check(cash) and two $20 LD certificates to use with my monthly bills.. I was pumped.....
Anyway, you could almost make an income out of switching LD companies, although I'm sure they'd eventually catch on....
The other thing you can try (I'm not sure if this still works)... Back in 98-99' when all the LD companies were fighting for your business... You could call one company and switch, then call a second company and switch(immediately after the first), then call the original company you were with and switch back to them.
My roommate and I did this a and they completely lost track of who our LD company was. According to them we didn't have a LD company becuase:
When you make the first switch they now have an entry in their system saying you are leaving...
When you complete the circut of companies(remember, same day)... The first company now has a record of you entering as well as leaving...
They can't tell which is correct and you dissapear.... You still have LD service through the first company, but they don't have you on file as a current customer.... voila` no more LD bills...
Note: This only worked for about 6-8 months then we magically got switched to some no name LD company that was costing us like 35 cents a minute......but the free LD during that period was worth it...
Anyway....
Things that piss me off....
Kids that don't dress up for Haloween and then still expect candy... WTF?!?! When I was little, if you didn't have a costume you didn't get ----! Last week my girlfriend and I had over 100 kids come to our house and I'd say about 25 of them didn't have costumes... Now I understand that all kids can't afford costumes but comeon!!!
Anyway....

That would never fly around here... not only do the cops need to show up, but, they need to make sworn testimony for each and every case being heard. You do, as the defendant, have the right to question your accuser, and in most cases, the ONLY witness to what you did. If the witness is not present, you can say just about anything you want and the cop can't dispute it if he/she is not there. I don't know how any court could find anyone guilty if the witness is not there.
Sounds like the judge needs a refresher course.

Apparently so. But what I don't understand is how you can face your accuser if your accuser is not present?
I would simply say "I DID NOT DO IT" The only witness would not be there and I would win. Simple.
I know you say it varies from state to state, but that is a state imposed right. Right?

Full of hate? NO! Full of frustration from living in such close proximity to people who do not care about anyone but themselves, YES!
I just don't appreciate it when people think that they are the only one that counts. I go out of my way to help others, yet it seems that others don't care. I guess you would have to live here to fully understand. I wish there was someone else in this thread from Miami, they would tell you what I mean.
Around here, laws are meant to be broken. Policies are for everyone else.
Now, as for your cinder blocks, that is frustrating! Couldn't you toss them into the back of your Jeep? Maybe one or two trips since the place is so close?
Oh, before I forget.. a lot of my frustration is drug induced. Once I get off of these mood modifying pain killers, things will be better.

Right now, I could use the extra help.
I started physical therapy last week, and I swear, it is the sworn duty of a physical therapist to induce as much pain as possible.
They think I am Gumby or something.
I kid you not... yesterday when I was there, the PT (Physical Therapist, not pric& tease) asked me if what she was doing hurt.. I said no...so, she did it more until I winched. Next time, I think I will say it hurts, even if it doesn't.
My PT went to the German Nazi School of Torture. But, then again, when I left, I felt a little bit better... so, I suppose there is something to it.
What is the old saying? No pain, no pain?

Thanks.. but, I did mean "no pain, no pain". You have to give it some thought.. but it is better than 'no pain, no gain'.
At least when you are on the receiving end of the pain.
edit: I am feeling better now... it is a miracle what 20mg of Oxycontin can do for a guy. I take these things only for emergencies.. I only have 10 of them, and must use them sparingly. My doc is not going to give me any more. These things are awesome. After taking one, 30 minutes later the pain is history!

What is up with this?????
Well, I heard a new low today - "What would Jesus drive?". In an effort to try and make people feel "guilty" about driving a vehicle that they "want" and can "afford" to drive - they have failed. I for one believe that Jesus would be driving a tank of some sort. With the goal of the "Muslim" religion to wipe out the Christian Infidels, I don't think Jesus would be driving around in a Yugo because of his concern for the environment. I think that this is really pathetic.
In fact, I think that Jesus would probably have enough faith in his Father to know that if He was able to flood the earth to cleanse it, then he could clean up a little airpollution if He had to. If I remember correctly, wasn't it back in the 70's that we were headed for a "Global Freeze?"..... I don't think that things can change that quickly in 20-30 years. I may be wrong though - wouldn't be the first time or the last. :o

I saw that ad too... I laughed. We all know that Jesus would not drive anything. This can be confirmed that the amazingly high amount of people that tout that "Jesus is my co-pilot". Jesus is too busy in the jump seat to actually drive himself.
What moron came up with that ad campaign?

ROFL! Brain, you are one smart cookie for picking that up. Were you an analyst (http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=analyst) in a former life?

Uh Oh! Looks like I have competition in the definition department!
I do have a KNACK (http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=knack) for picking up on the little details.
