A friend is getting frustrated trying to align his StarChoice dish. It was originally installed by an installer but he didn't like the location and moved it. He doesn't have a manual. Are there co-ordinates posted for the installation anywhere? He is in the Mississauaga Ontario, Canada area. It is the oval dish so apparently there are three settings.
Thanks in advance.

Well, we got it working to the extent that we're getting a signal strength of 93 on some of the channels but nothing (actually 19) on many of the others. This includes the recommended tuning channel of 583. It seems that we can't get the level above 19 except for a gigsecond when it might bounce up to 25.
In both cases, the receiver says it is tuned to satellite A4.
Our settings are 227.2 Azimuth, Elevation 32.6 and Skew of 116. I presume the problem is that half the signals are coming from another bird. But where is it?
Your help is appreciated.

Once you have the A4 in the Sat. box on the signal meter screen exit the screen and select channel 299, then go back to the signal screen(option 6, 3, 1) and fine tune for best signal.
After you have 299 tuned call Star Choice for activation, there are 2 types of system/LNB's STACKED or non-STACKED, Star Choice needs to activate the receiver for your type of LNB, that is why you may be having a problem tuning on some channels.

My friend has the dual LNB, oval dish. When he was getting the 92 on satellite "A4", it was hooked up with a direct line from the cable marked "Sat B" from the one LNB, directly to the receiver. He was getting about half the channels. He hadn't hooked up the second cable from the LNB marked "Sat A" to the splitter box that came with the system.
Eureka. I thought we had found the problem. We hooked up the two lines from the LNB's to the splitter box and checked the results. 19 on both! That's the highest reading we can get. :( And all channels show that the satellite is A4, not A2. There is a tree in the vicinity of where we're pointing it at the highest signal, but that is the same spot we get the reading of 92 on the direct hookup (not through the splitter).
The receiver was previously authorized, so that shouldn't be a problem. I'm stumped and my friend is stuck watching half the channels. Any ideas before we call StarChoice?

Hi I know this is an old thread but does anyone still the PDF file for the Co-ordinates installation locations for Starchoice? My brother has a problem with his. All the sudden one day his fiance changed the channel and lost his signal all of the sudden. Not sure hows this happened or how but I want to make sure the co-ordinates are right. The dealer gave him the co-ordinates but after installing it it seems they were off by a bit so this PDF file could come in handy. Thx

My StarChoice dish is out of alignment.
I talked to Star Choice and I was told that the signal is weak, and that I will have to re-align the dish.
I live in Stony Mountain. Before I go up on the roof to fix (?) , does any body have the coordinates?
Thanks in advance.

if you just have a weak signal ... you are on the sat ... you will just be moving it slightly back & forth or up & down ... mark with a marker where it is now ... that will give you a starting point & let you know where you started ...
you will only be moving the dish 1/8 or 1/4 inch each direction...if you dont have a meter ... use the tv & box ...before you loosen any settings .. slightly pull on the dish from left to right & right to left then up to down & down to up ... see which pull gives you a better reading ... then you will know which way you will have to move it ...if you are getting weak readings now ... you will only have to move it slightly ... remember MARK IT NOW .... WITH A MARKER...........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
