So, the courts are setting another fine example for us all.

Winona Ryder gets caught red handed on video tape stealing. She is found guilty by a jury of her peers.

But, Ryder is not going to see a day of jail time! See HERE (http://www.cnn.com/2002/LAW/11/06/ryder.verdict/index.html) for the story.

So, here is what I don't understand. If someone is SUSPECTED of pirating DTV, and they are on a mailing list or customer list of a raided dealer, a $3,500 fine is sent out, a law suit is threatened, and life is generally made miserable.

If a celebrity gets caught the courts look the other way. The story says, "It is unlikely, however, that the actress will face a sentence that would include time in jail. Observers said the judge may be lenient because of Ryder's spotless record."

I have a spotless record too! I don't even have a parking ticket! Really! No tickets my entire life, no run-in with the law, NOTHING! So, if I were to get caught, say, killing my wife like O.J., or shoplifting like Ryder, could I get a free pass too?

How is shoplifting tangible merchandise different than shoplifting television programming? Somehow, the government has made them very different getting the federal gov't involved with one, but not the other.

What does THIS (http://www.dictionary.com/search?q=hypocrite&r=2) mean? It should be defined as the American government if you ask me!

As you say, you'll only get a free pass if you're famous and/or rich (preferably both). Justice is for everybody, but jail is only for the little people....

If that had a been an average guy stealing $5000+ from Saks Fifth Ave they would have stuck a billy stick where the Sun dont shine and put him under the Los Angeles jail!!!
Of course if I had of been the policeman that caught her I might have thought about sticking her somewhere too!!HAHA!!!!!!
By the way, I thought she used to be Johnny Depp's girlfriend? Why didnt she just go get some money from him to burn?
Oh well, I guess that would have taken all the fun out of it for her.

Dtv is engaging in Terrorism Plain and simple ! they have deep pockets and can afford to hire sleeze bag lawyer who will do anything for a buck ! I alway thought that to charge someone with a crime you needed clear proof that wrong doing has occured ?? Guess I'm way off track with that kind of thinking.
Think I'll sue my neighbor for a Cool Million because I don't like the color of his car ! First I will send him threatening letter offering to settle out of court for half a million first.
This is no joke if Dtv is allowed to continue with the then NO American is safe from the Corporate TERRORISM !!!!!

Psycho! Hey! I leave for a few days and you show up to haunt the place?!?

Damn! Sorry I missed you!

I hope you stick around for a while. We need to liven up the place a little. And, my supply of goat urine is running low. Do you have that toll-free number to order more? 800-Goat-Pee, right?

Are they still up-charging for the glow-in-the-dark option? :gg :gg

Man just wait. Dave is starting the trend but it will spread if he continues to get away with it.
Soon you will be getting letters for stealing movies and songs because you have Kazaa or morpheus on your comp.

When will they raid Wally World and get customer reciepts for everyone that bought a CD writer. Then we will get letters from Microsoft willing to settle for 3500.00 for making pirate copies of software that they have NO proof of.
