so what is the point of hashing and ecming the HU card if the are supposed to be swapped out by the end of the year?
granted we are coming up on the end of the year and I have not recieved my new p4....

I have heard the following conjecture/rumors regaurding this:
1. the swap has cost them alot and they are waiting till next year to defer expenses and make this years bottom line look better for stockholders.
2. they are concerned of a p4 hack so what would be the point in swapping out one hacked card for another.( i think this is flawed logic since there is currently no availible hack, i also would beleeive that hacking the p4 would be more difficult if the hu stream was turned off and unavailible, however turning off the p3 stream would accelerate the need for a p4 hack)

and my own idea:

3. would litigation with NDS prevent or delay them from sending out a non-nds card? perhaps some deals being made behind the scnece and in the backrooms of lawfirms? as I understand it NDS holds the contract and or something along the rights to the cards that DTV sends out unitl the end of the year or some time recently...has DTV decided to wait and send out the rest without having to pay NDS some fee for a card that they did not even make (or soemthing along those lines)...
has DTV and NDS decided to renegotiate a deal between the 2 in which nds resumes their control over the datastream and security despite the recent falling out and lawsuits? if this is the case has dtv decdied that they cant handle the work load? or beecause nds is hurting they are slashing there price so severly that it makes financial sense to go with nds instead of inhouse?

basically how long is the HU "predicted to be around? has DTV made any announcment contradicting their end of year promise? and did they state why?
