as ttrk has said many times, you can't destroy info. it is neither legal or possible, as fedex and your merchant account provider have all the info anyhow... regardless, the dealer is not your friend, rather a profit seeking firm... why would they care about your info, especially when it can help them in negotiations?
if you are so concerned, spend a few extra dollars and buy at gemplus or one of the legitimate retailers of smart card equipment. you can find avrs, jtags, iso programmers and pretty much whatever you will need if you look around.

I believe that a business only has to provide receipts and does not require the name or phone number of its customers. You could easily place a reference # on file with the date to verify warranty information without any personal details.
People have got to learn to only pay vendors by Postal Money Order and not use credit cards or any other form of payment that will leave a trace.
As far as shipping is concerned you have to be a little creative. You could open up a PO Box under an alias. This may require some work as most boxes are required to see 2 pieces of Id.If you look hard enough you will find some smaller ones that will not ask for Id.
If you cannot find a secure way of recieving your package you could always have it sent to your house under a different name ( maybe a relative who lives in Mexico or outside the US ).
The fact is that the letters that people are recieving offer very little proof ( if any ) that you have commited a crime. If you throw in no purchase records and a wrong name then they have absolutely nothing.
