My Sony A55 STB I use mainly for recording movies seems to go 'off line' about once a month-usually when I think I am recording something only shown once. I get the 'Call Ext 722' message on the screen. I usually call D*** who re-energizes the HU and everything works again. The set went off-line again last night but D*** had different approaches- wanted a hard boot first, did not work. Re zapped the card and everything came back. I said 'why is this happening'? and the answer was 'The signals got 'bent'!!!!!! I demanded a new card since I am pretty sure that would cure the problem but D*** wanted $20 for it and this was NOT just a deposit until he got the old card back. Is there anything possibly happening in the STB that would cause this? My instincts tell me that it it is the card but what do I know???!!! (BTW my HD-100 works fine all the time this is happening)
Thanks

You don't have it plugged into the phone line do you? This I believe is common for people who have a legit sub and don't plug it in, the receiver never dials out and kinda red flags DTV, so when you call, they just clear the flag for another 30 days or so... Remember IRD's are set to dial once a month for PPV info.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Thanks,GlassEye-I have a legitimate sub for both receivers and have a phone line plugged in and working properly on both.I still think it's the card or possibly receiver acting up. What annoyed me was the $20 fee for a probably defective card!!:(
