What I want to know is, who in the hell thought of FRYING a turkey? I want an oven roasted, slow cooked, make my house smell good for the day, turkey!

And, pumpkin pie with whipped cream! Stuffing! Cranberry sauce!

Those who fry their turkey get NO dessert!

Smoked turkey... now that does sound good. How long does it take to smoke a turkey? What kind of wood do you use? Filtered or unfiltered?

Speaking of smokers, some of the best I've seen were old refridgerators converted.

I have never seen one.. I have seen those big 20 gallon barrels converted, but never a refrigerator. How do you convert a refrigerator?

I want a smoker now. Maybe I will ask for one for Christmas. Of course I would rather have my Olympus 730 digital camera instead.

Sgt., and the rest of you, check your email, I sent ya a greeting.

All the ones I've seen are the old fridges. You know, the ones made in the 50's (steel lining as opposed to plastic, lever handle, etc...). No plastic anywhere to be found on those oldies

The compressor along with anything else in the bottom part is removed. A burner is installed (ie. hot plate or two). Holes drilled in the bottom of the fridge compartment for smoke and heat to come up. A metal pan filled with wood chips is placed on the burner(s).

Get the drift?

Got it. Sounds like fun to make. I don't think finding an old refrigerator like that would be easy these days.. at least not down here. I notice that people up north, like north of the Carolina's tend to keep older stuff around.

I guess I will go with a traditional smoker. Did you hear that Santa?

Cold Smoke it for about 4 to five hours and finnish it in the Oven..
You gotta have that Cajun marinade to inject it with,Pecan is my flavor of wood aged about 2 years.:) make sure it's not green .

You could always check out the local garbage dumps.
