I am going to Costa Rica for a while and was wondering if I could take my Dish system with me. I have a friend down there who thinks it will work but he says I need a bigger dish. He doesn't know too much though, he just heard that somewhere else.
I was just wondering if any system at all will work and how I can get it?
Thanks in advance.

Yes Dish will work there I was there and some of the casino had DISH playing. You can also have DTV there.

You need a bigger dish to get either DTV or Dish down there. Had customer who live in Honduros who could get DTV but with a dish the size of primestar dishes. He had 3 receivers. He was legal and had to have a stateside address for the bill to go to.

On the subject of Costa Rica, will an IRD from there work with an HU? I have a buddy who has one and is asking if it will work up here. The card is 5 years old, probably the equivelent of either an "F" or "H" card.

Honduras dtv works with a 1.8 good.. with a 2.4 meters better
but with no antenna "great"
and it depends on where on the country you are
on dish.. it depends on the sat and the zone
for example.. 119 will work on some areas where the 110 will not be received and the other way around too

If the IRD that you plan to use is down there, then you must find out if it is made for (gla), there will be some modifications that you will have to make for it to work with (dtv[us]), do a search with "binaro-man" he is the guy who was able to convert them first.
As for dish in costa rica, yes it will work, about 1.8M dish but I have yet to test.
