View Full Version : Will a regular LNB work for Sat C?

Ok I have got a 18 x 24 which has room for 3 lnbs on it. I had Sat A and Sat B working fine. I added a regular dual LNB in the middle to pick up Sat C, I have a built in aspen switch (so I know the switch is fine). My Sat C is not working so that makes me wonder:
1) do I need to use a single LNB instead of a dual LNB?
2) or is the LNB for Sat C a special LNB that I need to get?

No, you have to use the special amp that comes with the Sat-C kit.

It's output is "stacked" with the normal amps output. That way they don't interfere with each other.

A single output amp (as opposed to "dual" output) is all that's required because the active transponders DTV uses @110 are all on the same polarity, that's why it can be diplexed with the 18v side of the 119 amp. This also requires a special diplexer that "passes power" on both ports.

Yes you can use a regular lnb for 110.
BUT you cannot combine with 119. You can either remove 119 and connect to 119 input or run a separate coax to an A/B switch (which is the way I did it.)

Also the channel #'s will not be mapped right, ie you will have to find them, ch 450 will be 438.

It is a lot of trouble but if you want to do it, it is doable. It is a lot easier with a C lnb kit.

Hope this helps

The integrated ASPEN multiwitch in your arm is already setup to receive a SATC LNB>

You would do this if you didn't have the integrated ASPEN multiswitch in the arm.

DuDe - spring for the $25.00 amp will ya :D -hehe

You actually switch, with a manual A-B, between the 119 and the 110? This can't be for Showtime!! You just can't have HiDef equipment and be unwilling to purchase an inexpensive Sat-C kit ;)

There's not a whole lot on the 110 bird that would be worth loosing the 119 for, or going through the trouble of Not installing the proper amp to have your system work the way it's supposed to :)

LoL

Not that easy to get a sat C kit here, hehe.
This is temporary until I do get one.
I think the reason sat C lnb kit is so rare here is cuz
sat C do not like the cold up north. they go south for the winter.
I might get a chance to get one when it warms up.:) :)

One other reason that I can see for using a 110 LNBF is the availability to receive Echostar and Directv off of the same dish. I'm just wondering if you can put a dual LNBF, add the Directv special amp to one side and run the other for Echo. Use an SW21 for echo and keep the 4 X 4 splitter, re-router for Directv. Has anyone been able to do this?
