As of right now.... NO but according to the Jan/Feb issue of "The Perfect Vision" DirecTV will demonstrate a new HD capable TiVo at CES with delivery sometime in 2003. The actual quote is near the bottom of the following thread:

Simian, Thanks for the excellent post.

One question, you wrote, "All new DirecTV stb's must have DVI."

When is DTV changing to this requirement?
Do you know if retro fit kits for the older sets are in the works?
I take it that DTV will be available only in 480p for those of us without the DVI. Is this correct? What is your source for the DTV change?

Again, thanks for the info.

DTV has already said that all NEW models will have to have a DVI. The DVI will be for show that are "flaged" meaning the broadcaster, HBO, SHO, HDNET, or your OTA stuff ABC, NBC, CBS will decide then they want to send a flag maybe on a movie of foot ball game so you cant "copy" or "hack" the HD signal and send it over the net. As far as I know there will be no upgrades for curant IRD, every one will have to upgrade(I bought a Toshiba 57H81 a year ago and it has no DVI so it looks like I am getting screw'd on my $3200.00 inverstmant..... kind of piss's me off.
