I have a new Hughes E-86 HDTV receiver which I connected and watched for one day. Next day error message "searching for SAT signal". I have tried soft reboot and hard boot, unplugged for 30 minutes, same message. The card and satellite signal are confirmed good when I swapped in an old RCA receiver, signal on SAT A and SAT B are strong 88-95. I have oval dish with 3 LNB's. Locals play thru on cable signal - still have "search for sat. signal".
Does anyone have any idea about returning sat signal or resetting this receiver?
Thanks,
Mark

If it says searching for signal on all three lnb sources then, you are not aligned anymore. Something moved. If its just on lnb source than you may unaligned or that lnb has crapped out. Chances are good it mis-alignment. Lastly, check your connections. Generally, that message has nothing to do with your card or receiver.

Waypoint,
He said that he confirmed that the signal was good with another IRD...
"satellite signal are confirmed good when I swapped in an old RCA receiver, signal on SAT A and SAT B are strong 88-95"
I would think that if it works on one IRD, and no signal on the other IRD, then the problem must be the E86.
You might check the end of the coax that plugs into the E86, to see if the connection is good, if it is, thae the unit back for a new one.

Thanks guys I am back to the RCA(working fine) and no HDTV. I will try the E-86 at my neighbors for the last signal check before I return it.

go back thru installation in menu. The hard reboot could have changed the settings. Have seen this before. Let it redo ALL settings.

The E86 is an interesting unit. I also just put one up. This is a multi-source HD unit. You can use this without satellite service to recieve over the air analog and digital signals as well as cable services. It is possible to disable the sat dish signal in favor of a local antennae or cable input. I think you may have inadvertantly done this while setting up your local channels. I am still learning all about this unit. I like the caller ID feature. One thing I don't like is that when you select the output for HD 1080i, The S-Video and composite outputs turn off. I like being able to input my over the air locals into the guide and using the reciever to change the different channels. The unit is a little slow for sure. It takes mine about 7min to reboot after a poweroff (blackout or unplugged)

You may want to make sure you have the correct satelitte setup selected. I messed this up the first time I did one.

I have gone thru the setup and selected all modes and configuation. Finally spoke with HUGHES Tech. and after their trouble shooting the unit is defective - I sent it back for replacement.
Thanks for your help.
