Everyday, when I turn on my tv and e86, it start with the setup screen downloading info on the guide. You have the option to press exit to return to viewing. Why does it do this? Is this normal? It is a hassle. I checked my connection and it not like the power in the outlet is switch off. Is it just my e86, or is everyone elses like this.

Are you turning it on with a switched outlet, or a power strip ???
The only time it should do that is if it is removed from ac power.

Mine does the same thing. I think it is supposed to do this.

Nope....not supposed to do that. The only time mine does it is when I soft reboot or I unplug it from power.

Do you have it plugged into your av receiver?

Its plugged into a power strip, that is plugged in the wall outlet. The strip is always on. Its weird. It just seem like I just turned it on for the very first time everyday. Generally, I'll just exit and start watching tv. The symptoms look like a reset, but it retains the OTA channel settings. Was curious if this is the way its suppose to be.

I have a question. if you are hooking this receiver up to a high def tv can you just hook up the colorstream connections or do you have to hook up the svideo and colorstream and switch the input on the tv when not receiving hd signals.how does the upvergence work?

this isnt HD related, but it is hughes related.. i have a GAEBO that is plugged directly into the wall, and if its been off for more than a few minutes, it too will make me wait to download the guide when i turn it on...

There is no need to use both the component and svideo at the same time. You can watch everything through the component. The IRD will upconvert everything to 1080 on the component output. However, I personally watch SD programming on the svideo output. My Toshiba TV does a much better job of stretching 4x3 material than the E86.
