All this is a scaler. Home Theater installations have used them for years on projectors. They attempt to simulate a 1080i signal by taking the incoming singal and quadripling (sp?) the lines. i.e. for every one line in, it out put 4 lines.. Does this really give ya 1080i resloution?? Yes and no. If you feed it crap in, you get enhanced crap out. If you feed a ok signal in, you will get a better image out. These things can take hours to setup and tweak. If you want one of the easiest ones to setup, then look at the Optimizer from Dream Vision...

This goes in your setup right before your TV... i.e. - Run all your equipent into your stereo receiver for video switching, run out of your stereo receiver into this, and then from this to your TV or projector.
Most will work with any signal fed into them, weither it be from a VCR, a Sat IRD, or a DVD, etc... agian just remember, if you feed a crap signal in, it will look like enhanced crap coming out..
