I know there only a few things you can do to confuse or misled Dave, im just trying to figure out some ideas and with all of us share those ideas with the comunity..
basics:
Create a new hotmail account with a false name (at work computer), update your profile with new email adress at all your forums or membership accounts.

Edit any info on post you wrote that could incriminate you.

Backup dssfiles somewhere else than your computer.

Tell the friends you make cards for free that your Loader is broken. And you switched to cable.

Donīt answer PM from people you dont know.

Use programs that erase the Internet traces you leave behind.

Donīt buy things via Ebay, Paypal, or credit card.

1) Anonymous internet provider (aka you never give the provider your personal information and signup is done using proxy)...pretty difficult to do these days.

2) Use anonymous proxies for all web surfing...multiple chained proxies if possible located in non-friendly countries.

3) Use anonymous email account (yahoo, hotmail)..sign up and login thru anon proxies.

The more secure you make your data\identity, the more time and effort goes into the simple things (surfing..etc).

If you mean stop pirating, it's too late. They don't care if you've stopped. Still a pay day for them.

If you mean go back in time and choose not to pirate, well, that's not that easy. :Z

I don't know if links are allowed, but there is a privatesea network that offers an anonymous proxy service that only accepts anonymous payments. They will allow you to make requests through SSL and assign you a username so tracking is very difficult, they also keep minimal logs (username, request, no IP address.) This with the SSL connection to them, this is like having a private ISP as long as you always use the proxy service.

Always use PGP/GPG for e-mail, refuse to communicate with people who don't. There are some web solutions for this, but I prefer to be in control of my own private key so I use freesoftware to encrypt/decrypt files. Sign-up for a free service that offers PGP, there's one a good recommendation for a free one at privatesea.

Jetico makes software called bestcrypt for hard drive encryption. A number of different methods of encryption are available for this. You can encrypt a hidden drive within a hidden drive and encrypt your Windows swap file. Bestwipe comes with it can wipe the free space on your drive. This encryption was used by some who are believed to have done some illegal things, but nothing can be proven by the data forensics experts...

Never give anyone a real name/address/location/etc. Always conduct business in cash or anonymous on-line reputable payment services with strong privacy policies hosted off-shore. You could also intentionally spread mis-information about your personal data.
