I know rock and roll can rot your brain but apparently Great White concerts can cause normally rational people to stare at fire instead of running...I saw the footage shot by the camera man and the whole dam wall was on fire and still those people just stood there..
And 21 people were killed while trying to get out of another concert a week before..Edited by me out of respect for the dead...

Just to note the club was small, I mean tiny..It would hold 300 people max, and it wasn't even filled..No one person was more than 20 feet from an exit..That means around 20% of the people inside died..My best guess is it would take 30 sec to get everyone out..Heck the fire was roaring on the wall far longer than that..

...death toll now up to 65 and expected to climb, the guitarist for the band is also missing and likely dead as well...

Really? Cripes that sucks...Did anyone else see the film footage? I could have gotten out 4 times by the time he left..Heck he was pulling folks out on his way out the door...I 'm really wondering how much alcohol had to do with these folks laying around..I don't think I was ever drunk enough not to get the heck out of the way of fire..The footage is really freaky now that I know more than 30% of them filmed aren't around anymore:(

Well, death toll at 95 now:(. The problem was the whole building was engulfed within 3 minutes and the material that was first ignited (black foam)sent a thick black cloud of smoke throughout the building so no one could see there hands in front of there faces. There were alot more then 300 peaple in the SMALL club. They are estimating now around 350+. If you were not out in 30 seconds your chance of suvival was about 20%. Another thing that caused so much death was Human Nature, 90% of the peaple tried to leave the building the same way they came in, there were several survivors who walked out the back door without even getting a slight push or shove...GL

I guess I need to retract my previous posts about what dummies those people were..I saw the other exit beside the stage and it was clear the whole time, but human nature is to get away from the flames, not move towards it..And it didn't look like that many folks in the video..There was room on the floor...Also note you could clearly see the stage while the camera guy was at the exit, no smoke while he was yelling at folks to get out..A terrible loss

so what is with the recent catastrophes at night clubs?...
chicago,rhode island, southamerica and asia...
granted some where terrorist actvities but it just seems odd.

i think hese 2 incidents will spark more from the panic scenario.. where people will freak when any little thing happens because they dont want to end up like the people in the chicago and RI clubs...

It is a truly sad and terrible loss when something that is supposed to be an enjoyable event turns so tragic...I have a friend in Luoyang, China and there was also a terrible club fire there on New Years eve if I'm not mistaken, where over 200 young people died in a similar fire. Such a tragic waste of life because someone wasn't sharp enough to realize the dangers (pyro expert):(

Do you see the club owner and band pointing fingers back and forth like cartoon characters. First off whoever has it in writing will probably win(what I don't know?). And second, if you saw the video you can tell the ceiling is only around ten feet high. What dumb @$$ pyro-tech put any thought in that math.

My prediction is that the band did not have permission to use the pyrotechnics.
I say that because the place they played before the fated show, the owner of that club says that the band did the same thing and without permission.
I have met some of these bands in my hometown nightclub(been years ago) and the bands where nine times out of ten cocky and would always break the nightclub rules(straight from the owners mouth).

It is just tragic for the families who lost people. Fire is the worst way to go in my opinion, it's just awfull.
