Does this qualify as "FREE" advertising?
I think you had better run this by Rise!

I didnt post it to advertise. This site is the only site that I use or will ever use. I posted it to see if anyone knew or not to stay away from it or not.

I generally stay away from any sites that would be trying to solicit members via email.

Curious....you are asking for advise from a group of people you know nothing about with regard to an email you received from people you nothing about. What makes you think a positive response from someone here would make it safe to go there? If you are concerned that it may be a Dave site the email refers to, why would you not believe Dave could also be here telling people it is OK to go to his site? Hmmmmm? Not being a smartass....just want you to understand that there is no gauranteed "safe" place and to try and protect yourself at all times. Don't always believe what someone tells you (unless it is directly from Rise, of course).

Well you are right Bob it could be anything..yrddog extreme moved onto the new server a short time ago, is it possible you were part of the old forum and brought over in the move?I wasn't with them before and I'm not even sure the old name of their forum..I seem to recall them saying that and their meteoric rise in members supports this assumption too..

Mr. Alien Bob:
although your number 3 IS the most plausible..
you forgot two other choices.
5: someone was using an email sucker app (freely available from the net) to 'gather' email addy's from dss sites (targetted audience)
6: Some slime ball site owner is SELLING mailing lists to garner a few extra bucks.
Either way,, (I still like #3).. spam is spam. The site owners who 'may' have sold a list are scum and have no respect for the their members. The site owners that have purchased a list (and this includes hardware/software dealers)aren't showing much more respect for their current members/customers.
This SPAM CRAP has got to stop. Yes, I am a member there already, I was told of the site by a friend, (remember, word of mouth is the best kind of advertising).. IF I had recieved this email BEFORE I was a member,, I would NOT be going there, I detest this crap spam, and I hold those that do it in very little regard. IT'S GOT TO STOP!!

spam...
I dont see what the big deal is.. i only get it at my "anonymous" email addresses like at yahoo or hotmail... and it does not bother me that much.. is it annoying ya but just ignore it, its a part of life pretty much.
the only people that really need to be bitching about it are the people that are paying for the wasted bandwidth on it... and those network admins could put a stop to it if they took the time...
Also i personally think that hotmail and yahoo sell their addresses or give them away to advertisers..
