An idea discussed among myself and friends is finally comming together in North Central Florida, the DTV "Welcome Party". We've got an estimate on printing up some T-shirts, made a few calls to see if anyone in the local media would be interested, and plan on hitting the pavement in front of the courthouse when Mr. Boatmen and DTV come to town. We just need to find a lawyer/client in the area (Gainesville or Ocala DTV victims feel free to post your case number after discussing it with your lawyer if you feel may be interested) that wouldn't mind any potential extra exposure. We plan on going through the local cases on PACER this weekend. Some in the group have suggested we may even be able to get the support of a local DISH authorized retailer to help with our expenses from the shirts and such (though I'm skeptical).

I strongly encourage all to discuss the idea with your lawyer, friends, family, and friends of friends. Defend your turf and let your community know about DTV's "extortion-like" tactics. Make sure DTV gets the message your community does not appreciate their tactics and when they come to town they should expect another party in their honor. Bad word of mouth can become quite expensive.

To those in North Central Florida interested, I'll post more as I know it. We're gonna give DTV a big welcome to the Swamp "where only Gators come out alive", and extortionists are, well, "Gator Bait".

You might try the local cable company for some support, just for kicks. I'm sure Time Warner would love to see the bad press for dave.

I'd also be interested, at this point, in hearing from any person(s) that would be open to having guests at the Orlando courthouse. After searching PACER it turns out that Justice Paul's courtroom in Gainesville has yet to receive a visit from Mr. Boatman. Gainesville (only 75-90 minutes from Boatman country...hmmm) and Pensacola, both in Florida's North District, remain to the best of my knowledge, the only courts in the state not to have a DirecTv case filed (Edit: Ft. Pierce, Southern District, appears to be a "Boatman Free Zone" as well). I'll have go observe the Gainesville justices in action to see if come up with some possible explantions (no cases considering the proximity of S, S, and C to Gainesville is strange).

It'll take a bit of time to go through and find some Ocala cases, as there are many Middle District cases. I hope to have a court room to target by next week.

Mr. Boatman, don't worry, when you do get around to Gainesville the offer for the party stands ;)
