If someone were to of recently bought a device used To "test" the dish network system. And did not know at the time it was illegal to own these devices. How would They get out of any future problems they may have created for Themselfs.
Would it be advisable to
A- try to return the the merchandise to the seller
B- Turn it into the authorities
C- Call dish network and tell them and try for amnesty.
Additionaly What if these items were Bought on Ebay using paypal?
Have there Been Any cases of a dtv letter from a ebay sell?
I am thinking A would be the best answer With documentation of the return. It seems that dtv is not pursuing those that have proof the item was returned. Who is to say dish is not next. Especialy if Any of the dtv cases do well. THere is that possiblity and the Dish test comunity must prepare for that day. This is just all hypothetically speaking.

Not much you can really do now except for play with the darn thing.
Personally, I would not mail squat back to anyone. Besides, how can you prove you mailed it back? For all anyone knows you boxed a brick up and mailed it certified.
Turn it in to what authorities? Your joking, I hope.
Call Dish? Come on! I know your kidding around this time :)
My feeling is there is no way they can prove what you purchased from an individual on ebay is authentic and real. Take a hacksaw and cut a 3.5" by 5" hunk out of any component circuit board and tell them this is what the seller sent you, but that it didn’t come with any instructions so you didn’t really know what to do with it. Go figure.
I think it would probably be a different case if they had your purchase records from a bona fide dealer, verses an individual.
Big world, lots of people.
I wouldn’t get to hyped up over it for the time being. My feeling is the courts are clogged up for years to come and I don't feel they can get every single person who ever purchased a device into a courtroom anytime soon. I'm not even related to a lawyer; much less reside as a practicing attorney so my opinion means 0.
Are you unlucky? If so, I'd just sit quiet and be real still and hope nobody takes note.
Good Luck!

I ordered a piece off an individual..I think. Got the darn thing had no instructions and anyways I don't have any of those football cards anyway. Relax the best you can and re-access your risk threshold I would say. Take care and have fun.

Don't contact anyone about it. Hope the guy doesn't get busted and your name goes to Dave. Even if you bought a device from DISH if Dave busted a dealer and your name comes up you will get a letter. Wait till then and deal with it then. The only thing that might work in your favor is if you return it to the dealer and get some tracking record of the return. They wouldn't be able to say you are in possession of the device if you have the tracking record of its return. I doubt the dealer will take it back although.
