Subject: Gasoline War
This could conceivably work.
-----------------------------------------
I hear we are going to hit close to $1.00 a litre by thesummer.
Want
gasoline prices to come down? We need to take intelligent,
united
action. Phillip Hollsworth, offered this good idea:
This makesMUCH MORE SENSE than the "don't buy gas on a certain
day" campaign that was going around last April or May!. The oil
companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't
continue to "hurt" ourselves by refusingto buy gas. It was more of an
inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them. BUT,
whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan
that can really work.

Please read it and join with us!
By now you're probably thinking gasoline priced at about
69.9cents a litre is super cheap. Me too! It is currently 76.9
for regularunleaded in my town. Now that the oil companies and the
OPEC nations haveconditioned us to think that the cost of a Litre of gas is
CHEAP at 69.9,
we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS
control themarketplace.... not sellers. With the price of
gasoline going up more each day, we consumers need to take action.
The only way we are going to see the price of gas come down is if we hit
someone in the pocketbook by not purchasing THEIR gas!
And we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves. How? .
Since we all rely on our cars, we can't just stop buying gas.But
we CAN have an impact on gas prices if we all act together to
force a price war.

Here's the idea:

For the rest of this year, DONT purchase ANY gasoline from the
two biggest companies (which now are PETRO CANADA & SHELL). If
they are not selling any gas, they will be inclined to
reduce their prices. If theyreduce their prices, the other companies will
have to follow suit. But to have an impact, we need to
reach literally millions of Shell and Petro Canada gas buyers.

It's really simple to do!! Now, don't wimp out on me at this
point... keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach
millions of people!!

I am sending this note to about thirty people. If each of
yousends it to at least ten ore (30 x 10 = 300)... and those 300
send it toat least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000). and so on, by the
time the message reaches the sixth generation of people, we will have
reached over THREE
MILLION consumers! If those three million get excited and pass
this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will
have been contacted! If it goes one level further, you guessed it.....
THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!!.

Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people.
That's all. How long would all that take? If each of us sends
this email out toten more people within one day of receipt,
all 300 MILLION people couldconceivably be contacted within the
next 8 days!!!

I'll bet you didn't think you and I had that much potential, did
you? Acting together we can make a difference. If this
makes sense to you, please pass this message on.

PLEASE HOLD OUT UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES AND KEEP THEMDOWN.
THIS CAN REALLY WORK. YOU KNOW THEY LOVE HOLIDAYS AND SUMMER
TRAVELERS.

Hugh127 As you are the first to reply, Thank You. Pass it on. It is possible to influence the 'big wigs' BUT it will take a joined effort.

i beleive that you should not use citgo.. my reasoning is that i have heard they dilute their gas with corn alcohol... and this is not that good for your car.....

I am in for my car but my truck runs on desiel and there are not many providers around here besides the big boys...

I am only going to buy from petro canada and shell. I will not buy gas from anyone else. Why....... I'll tell you why. YOU don't know how to use the space bar on your keyboard. Go back and check your post and you will see lots of examples of 2 words together that should be separate.

There is only one gasoline company we should boycott and that is Petro-Can....reason..there are a whole pile of Liberal bastard appointee's running that company...the govt. still has shares in it and a lot of patronage employment....Boycott these thieves only and you will have the govt. of Canada willing to drop thier prices to keep thier cronies in jobs...Gas prices in the states are still way better than ours, even the quality of thier fuels are better...Canada is known to have "dirty fuel" but why...to keep the money hounds happier by making more profit...this liter thing sucks big time as well because they can make more without upsetting the population too much....if anyone remembers when we used to have the gallon, if the price went up a few cents people were calling for someones head...now it is 4X as bad when the price goes up and noone seems to be bothered by it...While I'm venting here one thing more that may upset some people out there is why the hell did we go to the metric system...my thought on this is to appease Quebec as it is the measurement used by France and not by Briton....Yeah I know I will be flamed on that comment...but why else? :R

the metric system is supposedly the "worlds" system and is used in science, probably for reasons of precision... the US is one of the few countries tht uses the gallon, quart, pint etc...

also metric is based off of ten... thus making it easier to convert and do math with...

-not my fault-

I just cut and pasted this post from a friends email. When I saw just how many spelling and keyboard mistakes there were I just left it as is.

For me, I buy gas from whatever station is closest when I am about to run out. I'm just not enough of an activist to participate in political manipulations.

Yes I have to agree the metric system is used world wide...but we are in North America....our biggest trading partner is the U.S....and if you saw how skewed this system is here you would wonder why it is even in use...all beer and alcohol are still sold in the old format, pints, quarts for beer and 26oz, 40oz, and 60oz for alcohol the only difference is the conversion to metric which makes it an unequal number....you can still go to the grocery stores and buy meat by the pound, and I'm pretty sure the BARREL OF OIL is 40 gallons...when I was a mechanic I always hated the north American automakers for going half and half on thier fastner sizes some metric and some standard....did it get Canada anywhere by adopting this mode of measurement...not at all, it only cost taxpayers a boodle to make us look European...;)

The technologist/mathametician in me prefers the metric system. The old fart in me grew up with inches and pounds. I agree Bill41, The silly Canadian half and half way of doing things is doing nothing but costing confusion.
I still use compressed gas for calibrations at 1.5L @ 350 PSI. Silly!

Forgot a biggie...all building materials are still standard sizes not metric....plywood, 2x4's...ect...yep it is a half baked idea to think Canada could convert...and if I remember correctly it was a Liberal governments idea on top of that...

Don't forget... BOYCOTT PETRO-CAN

There was a terrifing story in Readers Digest about a commercial jetliner that was traveling across Canada...I think it was called "Terror in the Sky" or something like that.. It seems a 747 was traveling directly across Canada and it was during the time the airline industry was converting from gallons to metric...(in canada) So apparently the equipment was converted but the flight and ground personnel didn't know..They fueled the plane up in what they thought was gallons but it was litres..The pilots noticed the fuel gauge was a 1/3 full but knowing that they took on a full load thought the guage was faulty..The took off and about 1/3 way thru the flight buzzers and lights started going off..It wasn't untill the engines started to stall they knew they were in trouble.. Luckily the pilot cut his teeth in prop planes and was familiar with gliding..There was an abandoned air force runway serval hundred miles from them ..He decided to glide a 747 into it!!!!Unknown to the pilot there was a amatuar model air show going on there..Campers and trucks were parked on the runway.. The amazing thing is he glided a full airliner in with no power!!!Hundred and something miles from 30,000 feet plus and touchdown on the airstrip just over the heads of the startled folks on the ground!!! Of course there was no warning because the plane was dead, no engines.....He landed with no injuries...:D Terrific story...

Yes it was the liberals' idea. Ironically enough, the metric system was offically adopted on April Fools Day. The year was either 73 or 74. Can't remember which now.

That plane became known as the "Gimli Glider"..it had landed in Manitoba...
Yes I think it was 1973 because I was in grade six....I still don't know why the hell we are using it as I have not yet fully been able to convert...
Speaking of scary inflight stories do you also know that the english language is the standard language of all air traffic controllers in the world...except for Quebec where they use only French....hope they don't get to confuse too many International pilots, or they will end up with a few messes........ :R
