My DSR6000 went into demo mode and automatically went into a display

"clearing all data and preparing for customer will be ready in 1hr?

Has anybody seen this? All i was doing was rebooting the reciever, never seen this in my life..

Any info would be great. I unplugged it because i freaked and its been unplugged since, i did unplug it for a min and plugged it back in and came up with same message. I have been emulating for 3yrs now and have never had problems, its blessed and been working perfect.

In the dark now, i dont know if this is something thats going to fix itself or what I should do.. I let it sit for over 24hrs and plugged it in and still its wanting to clear all data. Also does anyone know how to reboot the dsr6000 from the menus? Any help would be great.

Please help

Thanks

You can reboot the DTivo from the System Reset menu found in the Messages & Setup screen. If your DTivo has decided to do a clear & delete there's not much you can do to stop it except install a backup image to the drive. In either case, any recordings on the drive are history.

What method did you use to reboot the receiver? If you were doing it from the System Reset screen then you may have inadvertently selected the Clear & Delete Everything option. Just plug it back in, let it finish the process, and then go through the guided setup again from scratch.

Thanks Captain, I did re-boot through the menu options through message and setup and I dont know how it went into the clear all data message. I guess I was hoping someone knew of a way to get it back without deleting everything off.

So now im going to have to redo everything from scratch? Is there anyway to keep my recordings? And its been about 2yrs since Ive done the hack, is there an easier way to do it now, or can someone refer me to the best place to get started on the hack?

Thanks

Here is a little to know about a demo card.

- If you have the card in the reciver and the power goes out and reboots the tivo and starts back up. Once your done with the SAT % bar the tivo will click over to the DEMO MODE SETUP OPTIONS. theres is a way to get out of it. you can just click the power off button on the remote and re power on the reciver after that and you will never see that message un till the power goes out again. Or the 2nd way of doing it is not having the card in the TIVO went you are rebooting. If not access card is in the reciver at the time of the SAT % bar then your ok to start watching tv.

sonyc, by coincidence, I just posted a similar problem with a similar title "Effed up Demo mode". I actually selected "prepare for customer" as I just finished a 16 hr shift and then had a few beers. Have you found any solutions? I'll post if I find any.
