View Full Version : What is courage?

It does not necessarily take courage to stand up for one's convictions. In reality it takes the ability to express your opinion, and more importantly, the freedom to do so. However, it does take courage to be willing to fight (and sadly in some cases die) so that people are provided these freedoms. All permits for protests of any type should be denied during this time of heightened alert. These protests can cost lives by delaying the ability of our police and fire departments (speaking of courageous people) to serve and protect our life and property.
I pray that all the men and women in the military who are fighting for our freedoms complete their mission quickly and safely. May God bless them and may God bless America.

When we suspend the Bill Of Rights, will we be suspending all of them or just the ones that suit the administrations current need?
War is Peace
Freedom is Slavery
Ignorance is Strength
-Party slogan (from the book 1984 by George Orwell)
Wow, I think Orwell was right, just 19 years off.

Earlier today protestors intentionally blocked fifth avenue in NYC. How are ambulances, fire trucks and police cars supposed to respond to life threatening emergenies?
I believe entirely in our right to free speach. However, you should not be threatening the lives of others while voicing your opinion.
That is my point.

When protesters stop traffic and stop the function of everyday life such as blocking streets and preventing people from going on with their lives I believe the national gaurd should be ordered out and clear the acum from the streets by force !

I don’t look at it as war protests I look at it as campaigning for the Republican Party. The more these idiots on the left open their mouths the more swing votes they lose.

I like that Mel!
Protesting is our right. It is also our right to get thrown in jail for civil disobediance. Just because you don't like something doesn't mean you can infringe on others rights.

Let’s not forget, protest (http://www.watson.org/~lisa/blackhistory/civilrights-55-65/selma.html) is what made America great.
I would say THAT is courage!

To Protest is a right, i dunno about you, but under any circumstance i will condition a protest, millions of people died to have the freedom for it. As always your rights end when someone else rights starts. That is the law.

NO amount of protesting is going to make Sadaam leave Iraq and let the people of Iraq live under freedom of choice as we do.
I see the protesters as standing in the way of the Iraqui people's right to govern themselves.
Get up out of the damn street or I will move you myself is what I say. jmo
God bless the troops and the President is what I say, they are both doing the right thing at this moment in time and the near future will prove that.
PS. Isnt laying down in the street at New York rush hour sort of PROVING you not all there???

I was just up at the demonstration at 5th avenue. What a sad excuse for a protest. At best their were 200 people there.
I was disgraced. I asked them to look South. I asked them to look where the Twin Towers stood and asked how many people they knew that died there.
I knew 6. The only response they had was that a war will make them do it again. That pretty much proves the ignorance of these people.
And yes, laying down in 5th avenue during rush hour kind of proves you are not all there. I just wish the police didn't stop traffic. Let chrysler, err, nature run it's course.
Be safe,

Please inform me if I am wrong - as if I had to say that because I am sure you will! But, is it not so that in the states, if you set up a "protest" or soem sort of public gatering, you need to inform the proper authorities of what you are doing, how you are doing it, when you are doing it, where you are doing it....
I cannot imagine any "sane" public official allowing for a permit to be granted that says "yes, I am allowing 200 people to lie in the middle of yadda, yadda, yadda and yadda, yadda, yadda.."
So, that means that if they did get the proper permit, and they end up doing something totally different than they stated they were going to do, I have to believe that there would be consequences for their total disrespect of the law with regard to obtaining that permit.
Hmmmmm, these people sound like someone else that has been in the media a lot lately - they "say" that they are going to do one thing --- but really they do whatever they want without regard for anyone else's well being.... How self-centered. Maybe it is the "I want my 15 minutes of fame" epidemic that seems to be happening all over the place. They seem to follow the same path that Saddam Hussein has gone down.....
The thought of laying in a busy street in NY, or CA for Saddam Hussein really blows my mind. I think some of those people need to get a job and gete off the welfare payout. At least read or listen to more than 1 view b4 making a decision about how you "feel" about this. Better than that, talk to an Iraqii or someone who has worked over there. Listening to a bunch of middle aged white people who are lying in a busy street just after they all went to Mickey d's for breakfast doesn't seem very smart to me - not that I call myself smart......
I'd go into the military and give up my life in a heart beat for any of those soldiers that are over there fighting so hard! (excluding the ones that are inside trying to kill their own soldiers - those people I hope will be executed somehow.) But I will never, ever lay in a street for a person like SH - and I cannot understand how anyone could. It is not ignorance on their part as ignorance is a state that can be changed, therefore, it must be stupidity or bribery.....

Someone mentioned about the Bill of Rights. My understanding of the Bill of Rights, is that we are free to PEACEFULLY assemble. I don't recall EVER reading the word PROTEST anywhere in the Bill of Rights. The war PROTESTORS that we are seeing in the news now, and that djc is referring to, are nothing more than fanatical, un-American, terrorists in their own right, and djc is correct in his opinion that anti-war demonstrations (read PROTESTS) should be banned.
The fact is that the war IS happening RIGHT NOW. The time for "protesting" is OVER!!! It serves ABSOLUTELY NO PURPOSE now, and the ONLY thing it is doing is helping to LOWER the morale of our boys who are risking their lives to ensure that these SCUM can "protest" in the future. Lower morale leads to higher death rates for our troops, yet these "protestors" are too stupid and blinded by their own self-righteous, misguided, and misplaced "morals" to see that. In essence, whenever you see a war protest now, it speaks VOLUMES about the stupidity of those involved. They "think" that they want peace, yet they are indirectly causing the deaths of our service men and women. It's sickening to me to see these protestors. They're ALL just plain stupid. PERIOD!!!
I won't even go into my opinion about how they tie up our police, fire department, and other civil servants (which further shows their stupidity), but i will post a quote from another board about an incident that happened in San Francisco. It shows how un-American these scum are, and also how a small group of them were potentially violent and effectively prevented a group of police officers from attending to more urgent matters...
I'm still in Taiwan, heading back to Texas tomorrow..(YEYYYYY!!) I came to Taiwan last Saturday thru San Francisco....that city is somethin else!! Don't get me wrong it is beautiful and seems more like Europe than America in some ways....anyway,I had 5 hours to kill so I went downtown S.F and here I am strollin around and I come across this group of anti-war demonstrators ....before I reached them there was a circle of SF cops keepin an eye on them and one of them stopped me cuz I was wearing my Old Navy t-shirt with the flag on it and he said...".please go around these protestors for yer own safety cuz they will get offended by your T-shirt!!!"
I got SO godd_mned pissed at him...I said " I'm in my Country ,these traitors are burnin the U.S flag in my Country ,badmouthin our troops, our President and THEY are offended by my flag???What about the MILLIONS of good Americans offended by their actions??? I said "F**K em" and kept walkin towards them (my hands were clinched in fists of rage) and sure as s--t as I was passin them, one of em starts booing and pointing at me....so I said what the F is you problem?? He wouldn't even answer me..he'd just cup his hands around his mouth and say boooooo......he looked gay and I figured I'd get HIV punching his lights out and with a flight to catch I ignored them and went to eat.....I could not believe it guys but I can honestly say that I did not see ONE person wearing or showing the U.S flag on their vehicles or clothes anywhere I went....NOTHING.....I can almost see why that cop was warning me about my T-shirt. Guys..it is amazing but how could there be such an unbelievable difference in patriotism between two u.s cities for example Omaha Nebraska and San Francisco????
Anyway,I'm so happy to come back to the good Ol USA tomorrow...I think I will kiss American soil As soon as I arrive ....too bad it's gonna be San Francisco soil.........
God Bless America!
