when I connect the RCA HDTV receiver, with the special dish, HDTV ready TV, and an H test card, do I get HDTV programming where offered?.....or do I need to order any special type of package from DTV. Does DTV need to know for me to receive HDTV programming or can they still assume I have my old receiver?

Yes , you will get HDTV signals...No Dtv doesn't need to know you've switched....If you are a Sub however and need to restore to original status, Dtv does have a record of what IRD you have....TDonn

I am a Sub and would like to keep being a Sub for various reasons. Idealy I would like to call in my new (when bought) HDTV receiver so that I can have a Sub HU card in case of any emergency. My question is, is it too suspicious to activate a HDTV receiver without ordering HD HBO or HD pay-per-views?

I assume you will just add the HDTV reciever to your account, therfor keeping your subbed H card(please say yes!)......... I really don't think that DTV has the time to pay attension to one guy, who has an HDTV reciever and isn't using it for HDTV.....I may be wrong, if I am they must have a HUGE staff........

Of course I am keeping my H card. The problem is the first few times I got my card programed (2 years now) someone else did it for me so I am not sure whether my Cam ID is floating around somewhere. I am eager to buy a new receiver so that I can cancel my old receiver (I can claim I sold it or gave it away or something) and the image is no longer linked to me. Idealy I would like using my H scripted card and having a Sub HU card as a spare tire.

No problem dude.

They won't ask, but you ran acrosss it at eBay, and you wanted the Dolby 5.1. There aren't enough HD channels to justify adding them. Don't worry.
