Hello:
I just bought a used hughes gxcebot tivo.
I also just got a brand new oval dish. Older unit with
interchangable lnbs. Unit has a NON powered channel master multi switch with 4 inputs, two for sat a, two for sat b, and 4 outputs for 4 irds.

Units are all hooked up.
Both tunners and 2 other irds.

Problem:
Have drd102 and 420 hooked to other out puts.
They both say searching for sat signal!

Tivo does not reconize sat A on either tunner.
No guide, stays at needing updates.
Sigal meter strong for sat B on both tunners, and zero for sat A on both.
Switched lnb inputs to switch from a to b sat.
Now Backwards from labels and instructions.
Now will not reconize sat b and a is good on hughes.
Will load guide and works fine for sat A.
Says error cannot reconize sat b and i ignored it in order to play with it.
Unit works!
Sat b shows up on guide.
When you tune to channels on sat b it says no signal!
Now the other units work.
Drd102rw reconizes and plays channels on sat a AND b.
Same ird works good on all multi switch outputs.
Drd420 works the same.

Whats the problem?
Do i have a bad multi switch?
I think its bad but its brand new.
Weak tunners in tivo?
Configurstion problem?
Incompatible hardware?
Ive been trying to figure it out, but its got me.

You either have a bad lnb or a bad switch or a wiring problem. I would dump that dish and get a Phase 3 dish. It has 3 lnb's all in one nice unit (all switches are internal) and it has 4 outputs coming out of the dish itself......no need for any switches.....just run a line to each ird and your done......The Phase 3 dish also includes the Sat "C" built right into the lnb head, so you will have that in case you get an HD tv and ird in the future. Sat C is where most of the HD programming is now and a lot more will be in the future.
You get 3 sats for the price of one!

It's also completely useless for Dish Network. The outputs of an "old" oval dish can be split and used for both systems with the appropriate switches and splitters.

Must be a bad switch. I have changed out 1 lnb and still the same. Since the tivo is the only unit that has a problem i thought that maybe it is weak and ready to die.

If you can, bypass the switch completely & run outputs directly to SAT1 & SAT2 for TIVO. Then you can be sure if both LNB & TIVO are working properly.

Ok did that just now. Got great signal on A and B. I dont have a combiner so i can only do 1 at a time. What gets me is the other units work! The tivo just does not reconize both at the same time.
