How to identify Dave Troll talk: = BAD ADVISE
“ Not sure when I received first or second letter. Wish I would have settled for the 3500 they wanted then.”
“ I am glad I called to resolve this issue. I did not want to be a victim of circumstance.”
“ He called the number and talked to them, they wanted the hardware back, and told them he hadn't used it in over 2 years. They never made him pay anything, just sign a statement saying he wouldn't purchase any items or visit any dss sites.”
“ Maybe they shouldn't be blindly sending letters to all the names on a customer list without some form of investigation, but that doesn't some how make it "open season" on their signal.”
“ The people who ignore, or run and get a lawyer in my opinion are acting guilty”

I must agree. If a person can't recall when they got their first or second letter, chances are they never got one. I would think that would take some heavy drinking to erase. lol

so... I guess Rise and TTRK are Dave Trolls then huh??
after all.. they have both said,,,
it's against the law...
hmmmm
why is it,,, whenever anyone says something 'truthful', (like,,, you may not agree with the law,, but it is still the law).. and chit like that... then ..WHOOOWWWWWW
this guy must be DAVE...
really,,, it gets old...
if you are testing,,, plain and simple, you are breaking the law,,,
It don't matter whether you agree with it,, it don't matter whether or not you do agree with it,,, it doesn't change the FACT that it's agains the law... and it will remain against the law,, UNTIL/IF that law is changed...
no amount of finger pointing will make it any less agains the law,,,
no amount of whining and accusing someone of being DAVE will make it legal...
DEAL WITH IT
this 'you must be DAVE' BS is getting REAL REAL OLD... monotonous, ridiculous... etc...

"this 'you must be DAVE' BS is getting REAL REAL OLD... monotonous, ridiculous... etc..."
I gotta agree with that 100%!
between the scam sites all over the place and reading the forums here, its much easier to come to the conclusion that 90% of all dtvers, and all of the freetvers are pretty much retarded and need adult supervision to handle day to day activities. All these "dave" alarms based on "bad advice" are ignoring the fact that people are inherently stupid. Everyone makes mistakes, but the stupid ones make the same ones over and over again. What passes for "thinking" in their minds is a cross between dreaming and guessing, but most rational adults can filter out the drivel from the rest and ignore it without help. DTV doesnt need to do anything to screw things up, we can do it for them without any help.
Survival of the fittest allows you to let the weakminded be eaten by the dtv lion. Its going to happen, its predictable, and if you try helping them they complain, so why prolong the inevitable?

DoctorNik,
Hmm... seems that i read a paper by a DTV VP, by the name
of Dave, that stated the same attitude. Guess you guys read your own stuff! eh.

Now What the @#$% is this. I've seen posts over the years from both of you. I would believe either one of you work for Dave as much as I do. Hmmm Maybe we all work for Dave.
Now the plain facts, if you broke the law and have received the letter. You have a couple of options. 1. Settle (which nobody wants to do with the flimsy evidence DTV has), 2. Go to trial and let them milk you for as much as they possibly can (WIN or LOOSE), 3. Let them get a default judgment against you and let them try to get the money from you. Plain and simple. Any other questions?
Its up to the "End User" to decide which is best for them. I have my way picked. Does that mean it's the best for you or anyone else, NOPE. So read all of this with a grain of salt and weigh your options. That's all I can tell you to do.
P.S. To all the DTV Employees that read this your worse then a bunch of f@cking cockroaches. To the rest of you GOOD LUCK in your Endeavors...

Thank you for helping me PROVE MY POINT...
since I said something YOU didn't quite agree with,,, then I MUST BE DAVE...
I thoroughly enjoyed this true to life object lesson,,, you reacted perfectly, and as expected,, and best of all... YOU proved exactly what I was saying...
Thank you again,,, (I love it when a plan comes together)
and I just can't believe you were sucked in SO easy with this...

Out the blue, TCAN decides to quote a few posts and label people. Typical.
Why not give advice, or try and help? Bashing is easier than thinking.
Because something worked for me, does not mean it will work for everyone. I called and faxed and settled my matter. I did not have to pay 1 thin dime.
I still took RedX's advice, and talked to a lawyer, 2 infact. I have printed case law, and posts and was ready.
I feel sorry that some people just sit around reading and trying to hammer people because they are mad. You knew the consequences when u started testing. Don't cry foul, when DAVE comes a callin'.
I can't speak for noone but myself. I have not been summoned.
Why can't we just try and help each other? this is ridiculous

this 'you must be DAVE' BS is getting REAL REAL OLD... monotonous, ridiculous... etc...
It is obvious to most anyone here that it does exist and it is real.
When, where and by whom, who knows?
Careful observation and common sense should dictate when reading the forums.

no one said it wasn't real... but really, who gives a chit,, everyone knows it,, and everyone deals with it..
what I am saying,, is the accusations of "DAVE" just because someone doesn't agree with what YOU think BS is getting real old, real fast.
and as I said,,, thanks to tcan,, my point was proven, very effectively...

we are trying to play nice. Get tired of some people accusing everone of being DAVE.
if u answer, u get sued
if u dont, u get sued
if lawyer answers, u get sued
if u say never got it, u get sued
and this works both ways. I just hope the federal court system wakes up, and sees how bad DAVE is breaking the law by filing unfounded lawsuits.

Well, in the end, it is the ONE who gets the letter(s) who have to make up their mind, on what they wish to do.
Unfair as it all seems, it is true, DTV has deep pockets.
And jmho, they will try to bankrupt you into crumbling.
That is how they have proceeded, and plan on proceeding.
If just a few people have the funding to get a win, THEY would crumble.....
Too bad, the A.C.L.U., doesn't get involved in this.
Not everyone who has purchased a pice of legal equiptment, has it to (HACK) DTV.
There is more than (1) use for an ISO programmer.
Hell my laptop uses a smart-card.

I hold a;
MCSE, MCP, MCP+I, A+, CCNA, and 5 years in the military working on nuclear missile electronics and security and 12 years in computer field. I am a SYS Admin. We use secure access where I work.
They kill me with this 'only use' garbage. I could build a bootloader/programmer in an hour.
Is everybodies hands clean? Probally not, but that is no reason to charge 4500 on the hunch that u were smart enough to figure out there encryption.
The funny thing is if thier system is so secure, why is it hacked to crap right now. I thought the law said "encrypted sisgnal". hehe
guess it ain't encrypted if u can buy a 30 box and plug it in and u are getting free ppv and premiums..........hmmmmm

tcan,
Not mentioning any names but I recall someone posting they called them up and settled for $500.00.
Then about a month later the same person posted he recieved a summons "what should he do".
Not to say it coudn't happen but It's hard to believe some of the stuff that's posted.
Really, like Muggles stated each must make up their own decision on what to do and learn to read between the lines in what's posted in a public forum.

DoctorNik,
After re-reading your Post, I may have misjudged you. You may be a religious person that just enjoys preaching the evils of theft.
I thought that you had taken exception to the following quote in my original post
“ Maybe they shouldn't be blindly sending letters to all the names on a customer list without some form of investigation, but that doesn't some how make it "open season" on their signal.”
That quote is verbatim (exception of “they” and their) to a published statement of a Senior VP. I suggest that those that post Dave’s opinion… are Dave trolls.
Yes! I know some of the senior executives at DTV, and when I received the first letter a simple phone call may have made my problem disappear… but there is something about been called a thief, by a thief, that makes me want to Kill(figure of speach) the SOB's….. and when I get served things will get “real” personal.
NO! I have never had any relationship with DAVE

um, let me guess TCAN, you have never tested, only hang around here for the Trailer Park jokes, and you have no idea how your name would have ended up on any dealers' customer list, because the device you bought was actually used for something else, right?
Or could it be that you just don't like the fact that THEFT is THEFT in the USA and there is NO argument that can or will change that, no matter how dirty DTV gets in attempting to control piracy.
You can call me a DTV executive if you want, I sure wish I had the paycheck to go along with it...
