The letter is different than yours I am sure. I said I should respond to them 10 from the date of the letter. I did contact a friend who happens to be a lawyer. He said do nothing to this because he had a friend who had DTV and nothing happend to them. They are saying I could pay all these fines plus go to jail. I am a mother of two little boys and I can't go there. Mine was CABLE remember so it maybe different than yours. Have you guys heard anything on the CABLE yet? If so please let me know. I just want this to go away. My husbands fault the bill is in my name.

Usually most of the cable cases I have read about the technician on a service call discovered the illegal cable box. The box was then confiscated and presented as evidence. Is this what happened in your case??. If so I don't think there will be much you can do.
Usually the attitude of the cable companies are different than that of DTV.. I remember a huge cable company advertising on TV and giving amnesty to people who were hooked up illegally if they simply would subscribe, they gained more revenue doing this than sending out threatning letters. But Alas times are changing with the new laws and it wouldn't suprise me if they took the DTV approach.

The big question is what are they claiming? Are they claiming an illegal connection or are they claiming you had an unapproved descrambling device. THen the next set of questions is, what evidence do they have?

In order to offer suggestions, it is important to post this.
