OK, so first off, I'm an idiot.

I got home from working a 9am to Midnite shift which ended with a few beers, and I notice that my subbed, non-phone connected, 25xtremed, fixsubbed Hughes S1 Dtivo has slipped inexplicably into Demo mode. I try a lot of things, going through menus, standby, reboot, ect. Finally I end up at this screen that says "machine will go into demo mode" with a coutdown, and three menu choices, one of which is "prepare machine for customer" So, I think to myself "OK, that should get me out of Demo..." and I choose it. A gray screen comes up that says something like "Clearing and deleting...this should take about an hour." I scream like Homer Simpson and unplug the machine. I'm thinking "D'oh! Of course it's going to wipe itself clean." Now I figure as far as the programs I have stored, I'm cooked. Will it also delete the sub status? Is there any way for me to get it to stop, (I unplugged it fairly quickly)? Will i have to re-xtreme the drive? If so, should I let it finish up its "clear and delete" first?

I don't mind if you laugh at me, cause its the equivilent of falling on your ass on some ice, I'm laughing at myself, but any help would also be greatly appreciated

Did the same thing when i got mine. Let your tivo do its thing and your sub status should be okay( mine was). just wondering what puts it into demo mode and is there a way to disable it. I know on mine, it happens anytime a put in a certain bin.

JJ, I read that yesterday as well, and I will check out the bin when I have the opportunity(I've been on 9am-midnite shifts since Tues). Funny thing is that this is a sub, NOT a 3M, which I have had running for months on this particular DirecTivo. I guess the bin must have somehow gotten "corrupted", but for the life of me I don't see how.

round fish, thanks for the info. I was hoping I wouldn't
have to pull the drive and re-Xtreme(tho I was ready to use it as an excuse to drop in a 160g drive).

I will post the results of my situation this weekend, to add to the "knowledge bank."

I let the DirecTivo do its thing. I lost my recorded programs, but it doesn't seem like I lost anything else.

You can either install fixdemo.zip onto your Tivo or you can upgrade to 2.5.2 (Superzaps upgrade) with includes XPlusz utilities that has a demo mode fix.

The 2.5.2 upgrade has its advantages as it would re-enable your local channels.

Both are available on the downloads area here if you need them.
