I acquired an echostar/dish network receiver with original card and AVR. The person had it working up to about 2 years ago when it was severely hashed. Cannot get the guide on it now - just channel 100. Someone told them that you have to go into the receiver and change the wires around to get it working again. It hasn't worked in 2 years - just wondering if anyone has any information to get this going or direct us to a place that can help us to get this up and running again.
Thank you very much

An avr card is used to get programming without paying for it, and such talk is not welcomed here. If you want to call and subscribe using the receiver and smart card, that is a different story.
Check the system info screen. What do you see for location ID? What model is the receiver?

Now if u wanted to Fix the IRD to get it ready to be subbed, the solution lies in a JTAG Device (Search on Jtag). This will allow u to read the Flash Memory Chip in side the IRD and also allow u, with a Program called Jkeys, to erase the Corrupted Flash and reprogram it with on that would allow all Channels. Fixing the Flash would allow u use the IRD and not have to buy a new one.

Just to let you know that depending on the model is the dificult on fixing the ird's like 301.013 single tsop. So it is a good idea to read about your ird model before doing something.

To get your ird ready to be subbed and you can either jump sb39 & sb40 or erase location Sa15 with a jtag and jkeys, then let it sit on the stream and it will update, after that you can call dish and subscribe.

That depends on the IRD. If it is a 3900/4900 you have to erase sa30 I believe 2700/3700 is sa5.

Actually it doesnt matter where the Ecm is located when you are simply erasing a sector in the flash. As long as you are not erasing the boot strap then you can erase just about any SA addy as it simply writes FF's to the flash corrupting the TSOP. IE CRISPYS method of forcing a download!

Updates should happen in less than a Hour. But I've seen posts by peeps saying that some have left IRD off all night though.

A friend of mine has a model 4000. Is there a jumpering scheme that works on this model?

I don't know if the Shorting method still works, I heard it may now, because of the Updates needed for the New CAM's comming out. But one way to get the 3000/4000 IRD's fixed and ready to be Sub'd is documented here.
